If you want the free user mod planes then download and place the files in C:\Users\<yourname>\Saved Games\DCS\Mods\aircraft
Missions (the .miz file) can go pretty much anywhere.
Sorry, don't do skins.
Not exactly. There are 3 locations that skins are installed:
1. [DCS Installation]\Bazar\Liveries\[Aircraft]
2. [DCS Installation]\CoreMods\[aircraft]\Liveries\[Aircraft]
3. [User]\[Saved Games]\DCS\Liveries\[Aircraft]
Aircraft Liveries/Skins should go into #3 as this is the local user settings folder. There are threads in the DCS Forums recommending not using CoreMods as this can cause integrity check problems or the sim engine.
Let me just add that if you are using the open beta version the correct folder path is:
C:\Users\<yourname>\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Mods\aircraft
The bazar folder only works for older aircraft (just tried to put on of my F16 liveries in there and it will show up for the AI F16 (Bazar is pretty much only for FC3 and A10C at this time))
if i want to use a plane mod (in this case the f 22 and the ac-130 in the version where you can actually fly them, in which folder do i put the mod?
*if you want I can send you a screenshot of my path via DM
