Which DLC for Beginner A10C?
Hi: I am just getting going in A10C. All I have done is practice missions and bombing. Haven't tried other weapons yet.

But I see that a bunch of DLC is on sale so I thought I would buy now for use after I get a little better?

So which ones would be good, given that I am just getting started. Reviews seem to be all over the place so hard to tell which way to go.

Thanks.

Michael

Depends on what type of flying you want to be doing.

There is fighters, attack aircraft, helicopters, training aircraft, world war 2 warbirds.

If you like really complex modules there are some, or easier modules there are some too.

Do you mean the set of A-10C DLC campaings or another plane module?

I meant DLC for A10C which is the plane I am now working with.

you cannot go wrong with the training qual campaigns. they are all excellent. You can probably skip the basic one if you dont want to buy it and start with the advanced. https://store.steampowered.com/app/555530/A10C_Advanced_Aircraft_Training_Qualification_Campaign/?curator_clanid=4471395 but they are all excellent. i have done all the dlc for the a-10c, the only one i would avoid is the red flag campaign.

The enemy within is probably the best combat focused campaign, since piercing fury is no longer supported. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1061310/DCS_A10C_Warthog__The_Enemy_Within_30_Campaign/?curator_clanid=4471395 TEW just got a huge update to 3.0 and is still being patched. it's really good.

The Enemy Within was my first campaign after learning the Hog, but you will learn more during the campaign. The campaign is forcing you to use everything the hog is capable, Great Campaign.

Are there checklists for the training missions in AAT? If so where are they?

For the Training Campaign and the fueling. What would be the best way to practice that? Would it be to do it in the actual campaign or would you make up a refueling mission and practice with that?

Thanks.

Instant action in A10C should have an AAR flight that starts you behind the tanker

People have different favourites, so I think the best you can do is study some videos and see how the planes fly, and whether that interests you. I think the F/A-18 would be really easy to jump into from the A-10, a lot of the systems are very similar, but it's a smaller, faster package with carrier shenanigans built into it.

If you love bombing and you wanna go twice as fast, the Viggen is a wonderful aircraft to fly, and it really challenges you to use some of those fancy Swedish tactics to stay alive. 100 feet off the ground at warp speed, popping up like a Phoenix to rain fire down on the ruskies. That's my baby.

Overall I think the Tomcat is the most impressive module. It's a fighter modified into a multi-role aircraft, and it's a little weird to wrap your head around the two-seat setup, but it's more than capable at bombing. Also the tech; the wing sweep, the TV and LANTIRN feeds are just so damn cool.

As always though, you should go with whatever speaks to you the most. There are differences between the modules, but I have enjoyed flying all of them so far :)

I've always avoided the advanced training campaigns because they are basically just 'tests' of your abilities in the plane are they not? I don't see how that is 'training'.

You get plenty of instruction before the test part.
