Logitech extreme 3d Pro for DCS
Hi, newbie here, just wondering if this Joystick is good enough for DCS (specifically for FC3). Kind of tight right now because of tuition, so I have to wait a while before upgrading to a HOTAS. Yes, I know it's ideal to have a HOTAS, but after playing fsx for a while, I found that a TrackIr5 would be a better investment..for now....

I've been using the Extreme 3D Pro for quite some time now in DCS, as well as other flight sims. With all the buttons and axis' on it, I've been able to map all my important functions and keys on it and have been killing it pretty well, haha.

I wish I could upgrade to a HOTAS but I'm broke as all hell. XD

you're playing on simulation mode right? don't know why Eagle dynamics added an arcade game mode, destroys the purpose of DCS...

I recommend the Thrustmaster T.Flight HOTAS X or the new T.16000 which are both great sticks.

I had the Thrustmaster T.Flightstick X in the version without HOTAS and used it for quite a while. If you can get it cheap it's a good entry lvl stick too. Basically as long as you have enough buttons & a HAT switch it doesn't matter which stick you get for now.

You will want to upgrade to something med to high end very soon anyway.^^

Semester's ending soon, and Physical Therapy Tuition is pretty deep in the pockets. So with a $150 to spare, I was stuck with 2 options: 1. Saitek X-52 pro or 2. TrackIR5. Went with the latter since I already had the 3d pro and that x-52's reviews are more mixed than my blood. Been using the trackir5 with the su-25t with no regrets...... Already started saving for a X-55 rhino. But will the 3d pro hold up to flying against people in the F-15 or something, that's my main concern. If not, I'll find some used x-52 throttle online...Im not a cheapskate, and I love flight sims...but school is my top priority right now...thx.

YES....with TrackIR and just Logitech 3D joystick, its a good setup. Thje TrackIR will make things easier.

I've managed to make the 3d pro without headtracking (I use my mouse D:) to work with the A-10C... As much as I would love HOTAS if you don't have the money the 3d pro can work.

The problem I had with Extreme 3D Pro was too much stiffness. Doing precision movement around the joystick's center just never worked out and introduced a lot of wobbly moments while trying to make accurate shots.

Yea, I feel you there, then again, its a cheap stick...but I dont plan on doing to many strafing runs until I get a nice HOTAS. Until such time, I'll be content flying the easier FC3 modules just as long as i dont keep flopping my hands back/forth from stick>KB in the middle of a dog fight......

Don't buy it. It is a crappy cheap stick.
I would buy the thrustmaster T.16000M FCS hotas (with a throttle).

For a little bit more money, you'll get much more quality.
