Beyond all that, it might not be a great idea to entirely ignore the AWACS in some situations since that is often the ONLY way to know if enemy aircraft are in the area. AWACS is a key part of modern air doctrine for a reason. No one aircraft has the radar coverage to really be effective at finding and tracking air targets in the way a AWACS can.
While i completely understand the importance of having AWACS coverage, keeping it enabled in multiplayer servers with over 20-30 players online makes it very hectic and annoying.
I scoured through forums that suggested turning the helmet audio to 0% but this resulted in the RWR muting itself.
I've found a way around it by disabling COMM 2 power knob in the F-16 (left panel, hidden behind throttle).
This should, for the F-16 users, disable awacs audio inputs while keeping full RWR sounds in the cockpit.
