This is coming with experience with all modules, the F-16 is in my opinion, one of if not the most competitive A/A fighter. The A-10c is loads of fun to fly, has tons of skins, missions, and campaigns, and it's always fun to bring a ton of stores to bomb the preverbial hell out of any red force. The F/A-18 is a great mix between these two, and for your first module, if you want to be able to do a little bit of everything I recommend the F/A-18c.

I would definately not suggest A-10C with Extreme pro. Hornet is best with that stick. It's also most multi-use, fairly easy to learn and competitive as fighter. F-16 is the way to go, if you are obsessed with it.

Personally, owning all 3, I'd say Hornet for a beginner.

You can experiment with air to air, play around with air to ground, run SEAD/anti-radar strikes, anti-ship strikes all from your choice of a carrier or land base.

Easy to learn, easy to fly and covers pretty much every combat task in the sim

If you only have extreme 3d pro then try mirage instead. At least you can bind it if you make buttons 11 and 12 as modifiers.

I daresay F-18: Although still in early access is a good plane to start.

FA/18 is easy to fly but has just as much book-learnin' as the A10C if you want to actually know how to do stuff. Also no way you'll be able to get all of the essential controls onto an Extreme Pro (I don't use it, but I have one sitting on the shelf, and use TrackHat). I struggled to get everything on the F18 mapped to an X45 (i.e. Trim, SCS, weapon switch, TDC, etc.). Forget about the A10C too. Even more to map. I bought the Cougar MFD's just so I could free up some buttons for the A10.

Having said all that, the FA/18 is a top notch module, and at 50% is totally worth it. It may even push you to get a true hotas (i.e. T16000m). If you're sticking with the Extreme 3d though, Mirage or F5 may be better choices.

I had the Extreme 3DPro up until I got the T16000M recently. Worth every penny. I use the 3DPro still, it sits next to the throttle to provide even more buttons and fun things to make things easier for me.

Same boat as this guy. Used 3DPro until I bought a VR and started playing DCS in VR. Then i caught the "mUh ImMeRsSiOn" bug and picked up the t16000m flight pack (joystick, throttle, pedals)

As for your first full sim aircraft, go with the A10. easy to learn, hard to master. But this is coming from someone who started on the A10c and bought the F18 due to peer pressure/fomo. HOTAS is a different feel but the extra buttons are a godsend (at least for VR players). I think the F18 is fun, but only if you want to imbue your inner Tom Cruise and want to perform carrier ops. A10c has some A2A capabilities, but usually a couple Aim9s for self defense. If someone tells you that you can't dogfight a hog, just hit em while they're taking off. bbbbbrrrrzzzzzzzttttttt

I would suggest you take out the spring. learn how to keep it vertical during initialization so its not calibrated off by the game. then use it for flying helicopters. its amazing for that.

In the t16000m? Sounds like a massive inconvenience to have to restart your game 3-4 times to make sure your joystick is as center as possible.

the logitech. only if you lack the sense to get it good enough the first try.

The F-18 provides everything you need. Bombs, missiles, carrier, systems --- everything is there. It may not be completely finished, but that just means that the possibilities will continue to grow with every update!

in conclusion is it ok with my stick at all but i will frustrated about that but if i'm ok with that is it will ok ?
Vanhala Mar 24, 2020 @ 11:13pm
In conclusion, if you don't fly VR and don't mind having to use keyboard as one main controller you should be just fine with F/A-18. That's what I'd say you should take.
