veao stopped all development for dcs and didn't give e.d the source code for the hawk.

Without the source code e.d can't update the hawk to the current dcs version, so they pulled it from the store

The VEAO Hawk was a rickety cart from the get go, too. Honestly, the L-39 and C-101 are both pretty damn good if you're looking for trainers/light attack.

The hawk developers bailed on us...
it's a real shame, I liked my hawk.

now I can't fly that I'm not really sure what's in game to interest me.

I'm wary of shelling 40 quid out again for another under development third party plane.

any tips/advice as to reignite my liking for DCS?

Well if you liked the HAWK try the C101 it is very fun and a nice plane similer to the hawk

I was under the impression that those who have already bought the license can still use it. They just don't sell any new licenses.

Instead of jumping into a new plane that behaves more or less just like any other you've flown, how about taking a different approach and learn something new... Real Men fly Ka-50. The other aircraft are for casual faffers.

Only a western sympathiser would question it.

The reason is more logical than just saying what's my personal preference. I think a good way to reignite interest is to try learn something new, and when compared to fixed-wing aircraft a coaxial attack helicopter is exactly that.

Unfortunately, it doesnt function under new builds of the engine :( It doesnt even appear to be installed.

Im looking into ways to roll back.

Ill look at the Ka 50 but,the landscape in DCS isnt all that lovely close up (im a fussy bugger!)

While I really like the KA-50 it's imo the most boring helo to handle, it flies almost by itself.

That's a completely understandable personal preference (tho does the same reasoning apply to fixed-wing aircraft too, because wouldn't the archaic propeller planes trump any modern plane simply because all modern planes fly almost by itself?). I'm more into Ka-50 because of the systems it carries and the capabilities it has. From purely how dedicated the helicopter is in its goal to kill the pilot, I'd guesstimate that all other helicopters currently in the game are better at that. :P

Any-hoo, enough with Ka-50...

Absolutely, that's also why I love prop planes or early jets, the flying itself is just much "closer to the stick". Not saying there is no challenge with "new" crafts, it's just that the emphasis lies more within the complex systems. Which is also a thing I enjoy (wouldn't fly the A-10 or the F/A-18 otherwise). At the end of the day it's always my mood, which decides what I'll enjoy more for the moment ^^
