People's opinion of JF-17
Hello all

I am very interested in the JF-17 but what do people who own it think of it? I have the F-14 (my favourite) and the F-18. I don't want to get the F-16 as i feel why would I sense I have the F-18.
However the JF-17 being a non western aircraft has me seriously considering it.

But i have read that it has very little fuel so i have a concern for endurance ( I like to fly missions that involve a fairly tactical route so being short endurance aircraft maybe a downfall for me), It seems to have a rather impressive weapon loadout to chose from which I'm interested in.

I'm guessing you haven't used most of the weapon's yet?

Nope. There is definitely a radar bug in the steam stable variant of the JF17.

I tried out the open beta (OB) and baaAAM! instant locks! :D

But sadly there aren’t many training servers on OB nor many people play on those “training servers”, most of the servers have tightened settings..sort of hardcore ones wherein you have to literally identify b/w enemy and foe all by yourself as active map is not present and does not show enemy (air/ground/base) locations.

That’s the fun part I suppose? ;)

2 points:

- to switch-on the wmd7 pod in beta we have to switch on the CLDP (power?) for the pod and then we can turn on the wmd7 pod (wasted 2 days by maddog bombing a/g targets :D )

- mk20 is the only cluster ammo the jeffy has...correct?

That's more to do with the recently fixed radar elevation and ground stabilization issues where the radar has stopped seeing the contact but the mark appears due to memory. Pretty sure you can only lock when radar sees the target.

You don't want the other servers. They are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ crazy with amrrams flying everywhere.

-yes. They recently updated autostart procedure. Not sure if Chuck has updated his guide.

-try gb6 and GB6-SFW. Sfw Stupid op with Jeff way point system. The multiplayer feed instantly chokes with your name when the tank platoons they hit start popping.

i didn't like the flight model of course i haven't flew the real JF but it feels like a free modded plane. avionics are good but i think it has some optimization issues

That's probably the 1 axis FBW. It's not as dead like the hornet but not as alive as the tomcat. It's in between and not off to the side entirely like a low quality mod.
