For example A-10C took around 5 years to made and was sold previously as a stand alone sim.
Now all planes run on the same free DCS platform but still take years to make.
DCS is aiming to keep their ad dons as realistic to real life as possible and this is why price is so high. If you are not seriously interested in flight simming it does seems a little steep I understand but if you are a flighsimmer - its worth it.
Btw, similar quality addons for other flightsims can cost up to 200$.
Not every aircraft is high fidelity, the FC3 planes aren't and some modules are still in early access or beta and aren't feature complete yet, you'd have to check the descriptions in the store, or reviews, of some aircraft.
Like I said, it isn't for everyone and there are a few nay-sayers when it comes to pricing, but whether someone wants to pay full price for a module, wait until a sale, get a discounted pre-order, or skip one over entirely is down to their own preference.
I hope you're enjoying DCS so far!

Also, this doesn't have the player base of AAA titles that are released on multiple systems, so they have to increase the price to make it worth their effort.
Another factor is what was already mentioned: Many of the modules were painstakingly made to represent detailed simulations of some of those planes systems. That took a lot of time and effort and it will take a lot of YOUR time to learn ONE plane in satisfying detail. So maybe one way to see it, is: It may cost 60€ (or 30€during a sale) but it will give you >50 hours of fun until you master it properly.
The trailers look really cool and are extremely well made, but they are the WORST place to get information. I purchased FC3+PG map on Steam and learned the hard way that I should have invested more time in pre-purchase research. This game can be a lot of fun, the developers certainly deserve payment for their efforts, but make sure to choose your path wisely.
