I still havent mastered it with the Eagle or Hog... The hornet, ive got it on lock,

How much of these 400 hours did you spend trying to refuel? I think it took me a few hours to be able to take fuel for 10 secs.

Its a skill that requires practice. 400 or 4000 hours flight time is usless if only 1 hour has been on AAR. I practice it a few hours a week. It is almost easy some days. But never 100% easy.

You are absolutely correct... Practice practice practice.... Thats all I do with the Hog and Eagle on my end... Some days are better than others for sure...I just need to master connection for both.. Its a pain, but fun trying..

You need to learn to make really super small controls inputs. If your stick and hand is not sensitive enough, you can adjust the axis curves to make it smoother. The good stick with extended lenght wil help damn a lot.

Well yeah i have only tried refueling with F-15C and AV-8B and maybe hour or two. kinda hard without track ir and with crappy logitech 3d pro

:) as I cannot dig a hole on my desk, then practice and curves/deadzones will be my tools

jokes aside, do you suggest some tweaking on the throttles as well?

I've never made any. Just there is no sweet spot on throtte. You have to constantly adjust it but again, just small adjusts.

ok
my question arises from the fact that my non-tweaked TM old Warthog throttles, either accelerate too much, or decelerate too much as well

four hours practice, so far, on my side, with a10C: alllllmost acceptable results by day, .... horrible by night :))

I also use TM Warthog throttle. The only thing that I use is armrest. With it you can make some throttle adjust bit more accurate. Same applies for stick.

Took me a few hours to do a 1 contact refuel. I read some forum about it & the technique I found that helped me the most was to stop staring at the basket & watch the plane.

edit just realized you're boon refueling though, haven't done much of that.

logitech 3d pro is not good for in air refueling. it's movement is very grainy and the spring just outright kinks.at large displacements

actually with the basket in the F/A-18C watch the pylon above where the hose runs. it'll have indictaor light for when in position and taking fuel, it should be about 5 degrees or so on your pitch ladder, and to the right the canopy spar thing should be aboout halfway through the USAF logo.

use REALLY smal throttle inputs to 'step' forward and away to maintain position. (i.E up a little bit, then back down, down a little bit then back up)

Ive been playing for 600 hours and only recently tried refueling in the Harrier which I just purchased a few weeks back. I always felt the boom style refueling for the A-10C just looked to difficult. The drouge and basket style of the Navy/Marines seems to be ok, but I bet it took me 4-5 hours of practice to actually be able to take full fuel
Mr.Herbi Jan 9, 2019 @ 7:16am
also around 300-400h playtime and still ends in fireball
