Tunguska's and a couple with "SAM" in the name, i forget the rest. Long story short they absolutely whooped my ass
note/edit: its one of the missions against Ai, the name of which is escaping me right now, but basically the mission is to destroy some artillery tanks. However theyre guarded by what seems to be 5-8 AA tanks of multiple variants.
Different radar sams need different tactics. Sometimes there is a AI SEAD/DEAD strike that needs to be called in.
SA6 is hard, A10 is to slow for notching the Missiles. You need to spot and MARK, use cover behind mountains to get in range, pop up, rifle, and back to cover. Or stay out of range until a SEAD comes to take em out.
You can take out the SA15 one by one with 180° turns.
everything below SA15 is easy...
If you are fast with the china hat, you can manage rifle all 6 MAVs in one run.
All you need to do is... locate the targetes with the TGP from around 20-30nm and 20000 feet.
I do this on the way to the AO or from an orbit with a right turn, without AIM-9 on the wing, becaus the missile will block a clear TGP picture.
If located.. turn laser ON, TMS right to create a Markpoint, repead for all targets.
At the CDU, turn the left switch from MISSION to MARK, now you can cycle trough the created Markpoints with DMS UP and Down. To check the markpoints are done right, slew the TGP to a Markpoint and make HUD SOI, cycle trought Markpoints with DMS, TGP will jump from Markpoint to Markpoint.
But DMS will not work with the MAV as SOI, i use the rocker switch on the UFC to change Waypoints in this case, have bind it to a button on my HOTAS.
After that you are ready to run in...
I start at 20000feet and 10-12nm to role in, MAV can get a lock at 8-7nm.
Role in...
China Hat FWD long, China FWD, TMS UP to lock the target, Rifle
Rocker switch UP...

Hope that helps.. good hunting.
Why use the laser at 20-30nm? I thought in the sim the laser only goes out 8 miles, beyond that it's just a point in the sky 8 miles from your jet? I don't think even IRL there is a laser that can acurately project 20-30 miles given dispersion of the beam and atmospheric scattering.

I thought the laser is not modeled in the sim and more like a light saber, because aint see the illuminated point on the ground, should change size by range. Thx for the info.. but i did a buddy lase for a F5 probably above 15nm a while ago, i did a buddy lase test right now on 11nm with a good hit, so the laser works above 8nm. May be you have read something about a 8nm AV8B bug???
I asked about the laser in the ED forums, this is the answer I got.
