Is Normandy 1944 and WW2 Assets pack worth buying?
I'm looking to enhance my WW2 flying experience as much as possible and right now while they are both 50% off was thinking of buying them to make my WW2 theater of operations better.
Question...Do you get enough with this bundle to make it worth it or am I better of not wasting my money and sticking with the base file that comes with the game?

The WWII asset pack comes with some really desperately needed AA guns. Also it really enchances the feel of the missions. Normandy map is also very nice in looks, and for WWII scenarios is essential. However, you have to fly WWII a lot for these to be worth their price. But the AA offered by WWII pack really is nice, modern AAA doesn't really give the same feel...

WW2 is my favorite era to fly and dogfight in.
Also love flying escort missions for bombers. Really cool flying alongside them.
My second favorite would be the F86 Korean war ere. Same simplicity in controls and gauges as the WW2 props only with jets. so I'll probably download the Yalu river campaign at some point.
While I still like to fly it the more modern era jets is what I find the most challenging.
Sometimes all the controls are just overwhelming. I guess you just have to put in the time if you are going to get used to it.
But for all around "fun" it's always been WW2.

If you, as you mentioned, mostly interested in WW2 stuff then yeah, Normandy plus Asset Pack is a good deal. ED is still adding new units to assetpack so its a worthy investment. And the map itself can be easly used for Vietnam like scenarios as well - lots of green/tree areas.

The asset pack and the Normandy map are quite nice and very well made but how much value you will get out of them will depend on how willing you are to make your own content. There are certainly some campaigns you can buy and even some that you can probably get for free that will use those assets but like anything else in DCS, if you are not one to hop into the mission editor to make your own stuff, it can seem like there isn't a whole lot to do. It doesn't help that the big public servers tend to run missions that work well for a large amount of players but don't always offer a terribly immersive, authentic experience.

For me, the WWII content made sense to buy since I make my own missions and even use the flak guns in modern missions (more as set dressing than anything else). If you don't really want to make your own missions, the value of the WWII assets might not be as great. Still. Your mileage may vary.

Personally I like them ack-ack for 'Nam and Korean war scenarios. 88mm simulates 120mm ok enough, when compared to 23mm autocannon... OFC they had those in 'Nam as well.

Isn't there only one AI bomber in it so far?

Correct, B-17G

I've liked them both.

I've set up B-17 bomber formations crossing the Channel from England and engaging them with my Fw190A, Fw190D and Bf109. Neat experience seeing the formations cross over to France like that with time working against you. Now to set up reverse missions where I protect them in my P51!

You could also mimic fighter-vs-fighter duels like Spitfire vs Bf109 for Battle of Britain-style missions.

Also consider arranging a bombing or train strafe sortie in your P-51 over France.

So, ya, at half off, its definitely worth it if you fly those aircraft modules a lot.

I was considering a WW2 plane but there's no populated servers for them?

I have both but using the quick missions is a pita as you will be facing jets and heli's. Hardly fair.

That means you will have to make mission yourself using the complicated and time consuming editor. Not really thought out well this is.

Lol I didn't know that. That's hilarious! Wagneeeeeeeeer!

dcs's ww2 has very few players.the reason is probably the wrost buy ww2 asset and the Normandy map. DCS quality of the aircraft is good, but no environment to support it. its way too small map size and then IL-2

DCS ww2 marketing totally fails if you read the forum posts some of user posting about stop ww2 development and focusing on F-16 and FA-18

ED can't compete, and so many projects continue to release unfinished modules, so there's not enough testing QA and patches cause bugs

So, its wasting money
