In case anyone googles this in the future and finds this here is the answer. Open device manager on your pc. Go to Mice and other pointing devices and you'll see a list. The Saitek mini stick will be called "HID-compliant mouse". You may have more than one of these and you don't want to disable the wrong one so right click on one and click Properties. Go to the Events tab and in the window at the bottom will be information related to it. In that text you'll either see Saitek Mouse or you wont. go through the different HID devices until you find the one that does and click disable on its general tab. You can change the Deadzones via the Saitek software or even in windows but my one has only ever been a pain in the arse.

Are you getting imput from it all the time without touching it? If so try widening the neutral zone (center area in settings).

Did you know you can use the ministick on the X52 for anything you want?

Use advanced programming in the software to enable banding. Then you can assign keys to up, down, left, right bands. For example you can make it another 4 way HAT to control your TDC/Targeting Pod. This will also disable it as a mouse.

Might as well use it, it works great for anything other than a mouse.
