Safely Uninstalling a Module with Steam
I'm sure this question has been asked, but my searches turned up only old/irrelevent results.

DCS is at the point where it's consuming about 25% of all the space on my SSD and I need to uninstall some terrains until I can buy a seperate SSD specifically for DCS. Is it safe to uninstall modules by unchecking the box in the DLC manager of the steam library? I don't want to find I've accidentally lost keys.

I'm pretty sure you wont lose any keys.

the "ownership" of Steam games/DLC is linked to your Steam account

you can install/uninstall/re-install as many time as you want on at least 3 different PC ( what i did ) ( i don t know if there is a limit on the number of computer )

the issues may come from the older DCS modules ( pre-Mirage-2000 steam release ), with starforce key ( A-10-C, ka-50, Mig-21, Huey, Gazelle... )

you are limited to 10 activations, so you need to seek in the DCS world Mods files to find the relevant module starforce file, open it and inactivate the module

even when you run out of activation, you get one "last" activation every month

also, un-installing plane/heli/assets modules won t help much with disk space, the only truly heavy modules are the maps, which are all Steam "keys"

Ahh okay thank you this clears things up a lot! Yeah I've got a couple of terrains and it's just taking up a huge ammount of space.
