F15c navigation and landing
Hello. I am trying to learn to fly this bird. I am a little confused about these 2 aspects:
1. About flying to a specific waypoint: i got used to flying the su25t which used to show me on the hud the altitude and airspeed i needed to be at to reach a waypoint. Now with the f15c i can only see the heading to my next waypoint on the hood, the dostance to it and the eta to it. But where am i suppposed to see the altitude i need to be at for a specific waypoint?

2. About ils. Say im heading towards the last waypoint which is a landing waypoint. I tried switching to ils by pressing 1. I see ils in the right bottom left corner of the hud but no glide slope and/or guiding cross or anything. So how am i supposed to land using ils in the f15c? Is the hsi the only thing that provodes ils?

You will find the answer in DCS F-15C manual, page 46 and 140

I have read that. Very informative and I will read the whole manual :D. But still I did not get an answer to this from page 46 and 140:
How can I know the altitude I'm supposed to be at when flying to a waypoint. For example I'm currently going from WP3 to WP4 and WP4 requires me to be at 3000 feet. Where can I see something that would indicate me that I need to go at 3000 feet while in the game? Also can you please tell me how to open the map in game the one that shows the plane moving? Not the one which you open with k.

The F-15C in DCS does not have this feature. So you can not see it. Maybe in mission briefing. To open in-game map press F10

Cool. Also one more question. When i set up a flight path with the mission editor and select an airfield where i want to land everything is fine. I get on a nice landing pattern(downwind, base, final) all nice. But if i try switching to another airfield while in the air i get just the heading for where the airport is. It does not put me on a nice flying path(downwind base final) just points me in the direction of the airfield and often i just fly over it because i am expecting the heading to ask me to make a turn. So my questions are:
1. How can i get from the air to a specific airfield of my choosing and get on a nice landing pattern. Do i need to somehow contact it and ask for permission to land? If so how can i do that?

2. How can i know which airfield i have selected. Can i see it highlighted on the map? Or how exaclty?

F5 atc
F1 to F9 select atc airfield
F1 request Inbound
When close, radio again
F1 request landing

Hey. Thank you for the reply. I tried this yesterday and I'm little confused please help me with this:

As I was flying I got into atc and selected one airfield. I requested inbound to which they responded. Now I was expecting my waypoint indicator to indicate the way to the airport. It just told me "fly headibng blah blah" but the waypoint marker didn't change. I checked both in ILS and normal navigation mode.

So my questions are...:
1. When I request inbound to an airport do I need to be in ILS or normal navigation mode or what mode to be able to get a tracker towards that airport.
2. When can I request landing? You said when I'm close enough to the airport but do I get a confirmation or something from the tower so I know when I can ask for permission to land?

Change the nav mode to RTB. Then scroll to the intended airport waypoint. When u are close to final, atc will instruct you to ask for landing clearance.

HSI ILS should come on then the ILS crosshair on the ADI should activate about 2000 feet (meter?) height above the field and near enough to the runway. Not every airfield have ILS, some only have it for one direction only

Thanks. First of all what is rtb? The normal mode? And once im in rtb and i request inbound will i get hsi ils so i can head towards the airport?

RTB means Return To Base.
there are basically 3 nav modes: Nav, RTB and LNDG.
Nav leads you to waypoints.
RTB leads you to innitial approach point
LNDG leads you to final approach with ILS navigation and with the flight dirrector.

This works a bit better in russian FC3 aircrafts but in F-15 it is very similar.
In F-15C is problem that there usually works only 2 modes of those 3. Nav and LNDG. But I am not 100% sure now.

So if that mode won t work how are u aupposed to find an aorfield?
Troll Norris Feb 19, 2018 @ 7:47am
The RTB and LNDG modes are very similar. You can use any of them to find the airfield. So this is how. Also I know the terrain of Caucasus. I can easily find it with my eyes.

Honestly if u have fc3 u can play the su 27 tutorials. They do a pretty good job of explaining landings and atc.

Find airfield in the map with F10
