Works just fine for me and every other aircraft for the game, just spend some time binding controls to your liking

possible to bind all important functions with the 6 base keys as modifiers?

It will work with any aircraft. DCS is independent on controller. But be sure the Logitech Extreme 3D pro is very low quality joystick with the low lifetime.

If you can then go in the thrustmaster T-16000M FCS stick only for cca 40-60 USD. It is 10 times better joystick than 3D pro for almost same price.

I don't think you can use base keys as modifiers. At least I wasn't able to do it from what I remember. You can only use the keyboard modifiers such as shift, control, alt and Windows key

Apparently I tried it and can set those keys as modifiers. Then I used the thumbstick and 4 buttons at the side in combination with it. That's a lot of things I can map it to lol. But the distance from the keys and my hands on the throttle is too far to make full use of it - when I need my hands on the throttle.
