Boeing C17 Globemaster III??
Im a flightsim fanatic. Flew thousands of hours with FS9 / FSX. Flew three times around the world real time and did hundered of flights within Europe.
Im not particular a war fan...rather a pacifist, that being said, i LOVE DCS. By far the most indepth simulation on PC.
I would love to see a huge transporter in DCS to transport troops and equipment. Any plans in the future?

IIRC, there are no such planes planned by ED or third-party Devs at the moment, but the Moder "CubanAce" is working on a KC-130 with multi-crew (don`t know about the progress tho).
Also, one of the limitations in DCS is currently, that engine-management is limited to max. two engines. But who knows, what the future bring! ;)

The problem is one of scale. FSX, P3D, and X-Plane all model the entire planet (albeit in fairly low detail on average), this allows plenty of room for everything from a quick hop in a Piper Cub to a flight across the Atlantic in a 787. You never really feel cramped because you have the entire planet as your sandbox.

DCS is different. when you go into the editor and look at the maps available, they all share one thing in common. They are very, very small. In practice, this means that the aircraft we fly will operate on a tactical level. What you are asking for is a strategic level airlift aircraft. You are asking for something that really only gets used to transport supplies and troops great distances.

To put it another way. The largest DCS map we have in the default Caucasus map. Even then, there is simply no logical way to explain why a C-17 would be used to bring supplies from one airfield to another. If anything, you might have C-17's flying over that territory or perhaps parked on a runway after delivering from someone outside the map but with the map as small as it is, there is just not enough room to actually fly such a aircraft. By the time you get to altitude, you would have already crossed the map.

That is for X-Plane not DCS World.
I don't buy into the "map is small so no large aircraft" argument.

realism or no, there *are* plenty of us who'd like a module like this.

I regularly take my ka50 and attack Nazi's in 1944 Normandy.

realistic? nope. fun, absolutely! (ymmv)

I'm happy to suspend belief and feel that when it comes to operational area size, as long as one can have a good fly about then it's all good.

I've done plenty of short hops of less than 30 mins in X-plane with the globe master.

obviously, it's not for everyone but like the ju52 in il2 BoS or the Christian Eagle in DCS there is space for non combat oddities. :)
C-2 Greyhound would be cool, looks fun and it would seem to make more sense to be in it due to the map size and distances (relative to the whole planet). Or maybe Grumman C-1 Trader/S-2 Tracker. Would be perfect I think.. those carrier delivery planes would be neat.

And heck why not something like little liaison/spotter aircraft (O-1,O-2), or maybe something a bit larger like OV-10 Bronco. Lol later.
