If its me, i will not count on that.
If it possible try refund the newer steamdrm products. Do not buy steam untill they said it is ok again.(I doute that possibility.)
Use dcs updater for future updates. You still can use steam as a luncher.

From the rest of your post, it seems as though all you did was verify game files. There's a fix for this, and I believe it involves deleting certain registry files. I would MAKE SURE that you absolutely need to do this and know exactly what to do though, as deleting certain registries could hurt your system. Look up "activation issues" in the steam discussions or DCS forum for details.
Atleast if you delete that file and have setup standalone version shortcuts and start via them (repair for example) you get the module manager. This way I use my Standalone version as a Steam version.
Big difference is, that I have all my keys on the Standalone version, I have no idea what you can do if they are mixxed. But I kinda have been looking for somebody who has his keys all over the place... So this good... For me! =)
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=800015938
Maybe this can work, please write up detailed, which keys are Standalone/Steam. Purchase dates (e.g if key merge with Steam ended before they were bought etc.)
What happens when Harrier (Steam bought right?) is installed by Steam and activated, but then the Steam version is modded (retail.cfg) into a Standalone version (you can see the module manager).
Some exec files are different after their made new version policy. And the mainfest files also different. which contain a RSA signtrue key for tamperproof(and signtrue are different between 2 versons).
The mainfest also contain version tag/flag.But sign with encrpt key so i can not change it without trigger the integrity check.
If you replace the standalone or steam crital file it alone. it will refuse to work and thowe a expection error.
Even you able to use switch the old product files, which is ok to run. but the hash of files changes will trigger the file integrity flag(hash located in dcs_mainfest file). Turn your file integrity check mark from green sheld to red sheld. Which impact the mutilplayer.
I download some standalone DLC via DCSupdater which i did not own. I just want their wallpaper and main menu music for my steam version. But also trigger the file integrity check in mutiplayer since this version's mainfest signature did not contain in main mainfest file.
DCS STANDALONE REPAIR actually depends on mainfest hash list only. Which create by ED from different version. It only follow the orignal game version file. Not just standalone version files. So it basiclly will never mix thing during repair. But it mixed thing during install news DLCs when you use command.
However the DLC mainfest is precreated and all dlc files matched. DCSupdater only check the hash not version. So DCSupdater will do nothing in this case. But dcs.exe will read the main-mainfest which contain all sigkey of this version, since other version of sigkey did not show in orignal mainfest. it will not allow this different verson of files pass its integrity check.
However i never go though a IDA binary code disassembling. So i can't 100% sure what kind of work flow differences between 2 versions.
But it definitely not the old DCS 1.5 how to handle the 2 version of game.
If i made some mistake or misunderstood something.please do not hesitate to point it out.
Im really curiosity about it too.
That's the biggest thing to know about DCS on Steam vs DCS Standalone. I have a feeling they'll have to do something aout that, soon, because I guarantee Steam is where 80% of their income comes from and that's obviously a scumbag thing to do.
I'm not certain, but I've read that on the Steam version, those same modules aren't even guaranteed to work in newer DCS releases (Say... a DCS 3.0, for example), whereas they would be on the standalone version. I can't verify that because you can't believe everything you read on Reddit.
.......
This post has just stopped me from spending over £100, I have been waiting for a DCS sale but after reading this i won't bother.
Yeah, that's what's put the pause on me from purchasing some new modules. I want the Steam version for multiple reasons but knowing that if I ever had to go to the standalone version, like because Steam doesn't update the game as soon as the standalone version, which would mean I might not be able to join the servers I am used to going to on the Steam version for an unknown amount of time until the update DOES come through Steam, then none of my modules from the M-2000C and newer would transfer.
There's other reasons one may want to/need to/have to switch to the standalone version, too. It's a dirty business practice in my opinion.
I have a feeling someone will tell me why it's not dirty, and I'll tell ya why it is. Customer service is a priority in any honest business that cares about its customers. With a simple proof of purchase, their customer service should be able to manually enter whatever data is needed so you could have your modules transferred to the standalone version. At least once for free.
IL-2 does this. Erectile Dysfunction does not. It CAN be done, they just WON'T.
The first part is true for certain. There was a warning about this in the Steam store under some of the modules and now... I don't see it. I guess it put a halt to the $$$ income. I didn't check all the modules for it, though, I just quickly peeked at the M-2000C module.
It's only the second part I'm not sure of.
EDIT: Which is exactly what you were talking about lol. I am playing DCS at the moment and didn't fully read it.
I agree. The sad part is... the Reddit guy was defending them for all of it lol. I'm sure you can find our "conversation" on this in Floggit. It wouldn't have been allowed in Hoggit for many reasons, including the fact that I wasn't worshipping ED.
Edit: And yeah, I feel ya, I've had the game for around 10-14 days (yes, I've lost track of time, now, lol). Around Day 1, I went ahead and bought FC3. By day 6, I had to have TrackIR. But now I'm afraid to buy any modules because if they won't (not can't, but WON'T) allow you to keep newer modules that you purchase on Steam and use on the Standalone version, I won't even feel like my purchase is real or secure. It's the same exact game. What gripes me about it is that they can do it, they just won't. It's laziness and the thought of making an extra buck.
There's the guys who are diehard supporters of the company, but hey... sheep are in all walks of life. All I have to say is IL-2 is set up the same exact way and they WILL give you a one time FREE transfer of all your purchases from the Steam version to their standalone version. That's a good company.
That message that warned that modules from the M-2000C and newer can't be transferred from Steam to the standalone version has been removed! It's that or I'm blind. I saw it with my own eyes in the Steam store around 10 days ago because I saw talk of it on Reddit. They also have a screenshot of it on Reddit to show what they are talking about.
I have a feeling the "rule" has stayed the same, just that the warning has been removed. I hope I'm wrong. If this has changed, it's changed within the last 10 days. Again, there's screenshot proof that it was this way on Reddit, too.
This is.. intriguing. I really wonder..
Did they decide to do a little work and not have that "rule"?
Or was it killing their business so they removed the warning? Wowwww....
I am kinda pissed regarding DCS selling modules on steam but yet there company now does not recognize them it would be so much easier if they did what they used to do buying from Steam good on ED end and steam by from ED good for ED.

This will pop up and there is nothing other than restarting the game that I know that will fix it.
