DCS World Steam Edition

DCS World Steam Edition

Best head tracking option?
What is a good VR/head tracking option for DCS World? I had tried trackIR before, but it's very uncomfortable for me so I was considering getting a VR headset to use with DCS World. My only concern is that maybe text would be hard to read or the head tracking may not be good.

Any suggestions?
Thanks

I was considering the Pimax 5k+ as it had pretty good reviews for DCS World, but I wasn't sure if this came with head tracking by default or if it was an addition that had to be purchased.

In my opinion, Track IR is really uncomfortable and feels unnatural.
I adore my rift even if it limits my range.

it's a game changer.

I use edtracker with the opentrack software for DCS and I am happy with it. Its only "3dof" but you can set and bind the rest 3 axis also with opentrack to get a pseudo 6dof and I find it nice.

Its cheap ,its lightweight ,you don't have to put anything on your screen and its easy to use.

Trackhat if you want to save a ton of cash (70%), have the EXACT same experience as TrackIR, and have a MUCH sturdier piece of equipment. I have owned both, and the TrackIR clip is very flimsy and easy to break (as mine did). The company was unsympathetic to say the least. Everyone on here will tell you TrackIR, but I suspect that none of them have even tried the TrackHat.

Remember if you go VR that the visuals are much degraded at the moment, and you generally need a pig of a system to run it WELL. You also need to have a good HOTAS to avoid using the keyboard completely (you should have that anyways actually). Also would make my Cougar MFDs useless...

Yea I have trackir, I just hate it. It is uncomfortable in the sense that I have to keep my eyes pointed at the screen while I turn my head 45 degrees to the other direction. It's unnatural.
I have a good system and joystick/throttle/pedals.

I heard some people were saying the clarity wasn't bad for some of the more expensive VR headsets like the PIMAX 5K+ specifically so that's why I was asking here.

dont forget that more "clarity" needs more PC/gfx horsepower required.

I wont go back to flat screen simming.

Other than VR, TIR and a three monitor setup is the closest you can get imho. It takes alot of fiddling though to get it *just* right.

Yah, when they work the bugs out of VR and improve performance, I can see myself jumping in. I just don't have the patience or willingness to sacrifice more cash for what I feel is still a beta product. They're going to have to dramatically improve the tech and hit a more mainstream audience for that to happen though.
what bugs? performance is being worked on.

Hey Beefy, do you mean uncomfortable because you have to wear a hat? If so, I HIGHLY recommend the TrackClip Pro. I play with a headset on anyways and this clips to it and I hardly know it is there. Took me two days of play testing to get a perfect tune for it and now it feels as natural as looking around an actual cockpit. Best investment I ever made in flight simming.

No I mean it's uncomfortable as my eyes have to look in a different direction than my head is turned. It's uncomfortable to turn my head 45 degrees away from the monitor and be staring at the monitor.

This is why I was looking into a VR headset mainly.

Price is not an issue (to an extent) and as I already mentioned I already have all of the flight controls.

The VR headset that I mentioned I was looking at costs $700 but I was trying to see if anyone had anything that they thought would be better for DCS.
