F15 night vision ?
Hello,

while I am in the process of flying all the F15 campaigns (with DLCs), I am encountering several night missions, where is somewhat difficult to manage (either in dogfights or low level flying)

as I remember that Janes' F15 had NVG, and as I've discovered a very old NVG mod for DCS F15 (so it can be done),

I ask please whether there is any updated NVG mod somewhere,

thanks

I flew the same F-15 campaigns and got not to much troubles in night time: moonlight helps a lot, especially for ground obstacles.

If you have troubles with dogfights and cannot find and updated mod you can:

1) Try shoot down as much enemy as possible in BVR mode (oh yeah! thank you Captain Obvious!)
2) Turn on the object labels: this ♥♥♥♥'s up the realism but you can still pretend to have a JHMCS helmet ;-P
3) Try play at night reducing the external light sources: this will improve the visibility of things on the screen.

I've just been shot down in the Georgian campaign, in a night BVR engagement where the wingman did nothing against outnumbering bogeys, and the AWACS commanded the weapons hot engagement quite late

so, it's workaround time :)

Maybe another obviousity: did you order them to engage?
AFAICS wingman tends to wait for orders, so do not expect form them to automatically engage bogeys.

yes I did (thanks anyway)

redoing the mission, this time I acted being at the ready (every target marked in TWS), without waiting the "weapons hot" call from the AWACs or the fired upon condition

that gave my flight the 5-10" needed to have the full advantage

Unless you have high res IR sensor cool by coolant. And helmet buildin AR project Like 5th gen crazy technology.
those light personnel green goggles. Did not help much , maybe OK for air strike but too weak and very impractical for A2A combat.

The goggles even can not stay in place under high-gs. It cause more trouble than it should help.

That's why they don't deploy those or have <5 g-limits in nvg night flight

but how do the real ones manage their night patrols ?
how do they mantain formation?
how do they find themselves when in close range ?

I guess they wear a pair of NVG (and remove them in case of dogfight).
Loose distance and Position/anti-collision lights helps during formation flight.
