SU-25t Schkval wont ground lock
I am unable to get the tv system to ground lock. I slew the system to the general area but when I hit enter it returns to its original default position.... There must be something I am missing but I have spent hours with no luck. This is especially needed if I am trying to fire on a building. If I can't ground lock I can't use the missile override to manually guide and destroy a hanger for instance....

For instance it is impossible for me to destroy the hangers on the tv guided missile training mission as I can't ground lock.

You can try to change the daytime to get more light or push this issue more into developers because this issue is in DCS since the release of version 2.1 of DCS. Since the new game engine the SKHVAL has problem to see target even IMO in the good daylight conditions.

"enter" is just for ground stabilisation, the target shoul'd be locked automatically.

Next options are:
Launch override
Use the LLTV for targeting.

Thats really disappointing that this has been an issue for so long. This is the first introduction to DCS and its so flawed I am done with it. I would just the use the TV for manual targeting but it won't even ground lock and it is in the middle of the day!

Try locking up some vehicles instead of buildings, you might have more luck doing that. Don't give up yet!

I recommend changing Enter to another key.

Shkval ground lock works within a particular range. Try getting closer.

I' ve been having this same problem for days now. Really annoying that they haven' t fixed this yet.

If these are the kind of problems you keep running in to, hell no to paying 60 euro' s for a new plane

Try getting closer and remapping the key. I fly the Toad at least once a week with no issue

No issues with Schkval, change lock button, lock it on TV then just aim that spot into a circles on HUD and bang bang. But for buildings use bigger missiles.

I've tried it all, nothing seems to be working.
- air to ground mode selected
- 29T missiles selected
- Shkval on
- slew over ground
- hit "target lock" key (whatever it is)

When doing this, the slew indicator jumps back to the middel (default) position.

Only when I do the training for the Shkval sensor, it works like it should

Sounds like your key bindings are wrong. Could you check it again? And if it still persists, upload a very short video highlighting the issue

There are no issues like that with Shkval TV at all.
It's the operator error. Hint: To target a bunker, set target size to its max 60m. Aircraft 20m.
I've been flying the Su-25T since LOMAC FC1 from 2005 and there are no problems like that.

I can even have 2x Vikhr-M in the air for two separate targets. (!)
Here's an example: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1879931283

There are many "tricks" to fully utilize the Su-25T.
Check out my channel for a lot of videos and you will see what I'm talking about.
Ask questions and I will respond there.

Well, seems I'm a noob indeed.

Apparently, I was playing in Game Mode. That completely erases the possibility to ground lock.

It' s working now, thanks for the help guys!

I'm really bad at my SU 25T bombing runs. Using the good ol dumb bombs but can I use that TV camera to set my IP on my bomb run to do better? Thanks.
S.M.O.G. Oct 4, 2019 @ 10:38pm
For as far as I know the Shkval sensor is useless for the dumb bombs, it's just not made for it.

For bomb runs, try making a longer approach and zoom in when you're alligned to try and be more precise.
