F/A-18C FCS Bit test issues
I've searched the posts here, and googled as well, and while it seems to be an issue some have encountered I've yet to find a result that helps me.

When running through the start up procedure the FCS Bit test doesn't complete. It goes to 'in test' mode but there is no response from the flight control surfaces both visually or from the FCS page. It then goes to 'restrt', however restarting the test does nothing either. The result of this is that I can't set the stab's to 12d.

This happens when doing the tutorial or when starting cold and dark from free flight. I'm hoping someone can shed some light on this for me.

Thanks in advance.

You have to click and hold OBS button 5 and switch a switch on your right wall (just under canopy) to run FCS bit.

There is a keyboard shortcut for that switch (Y as I remember).

It was said in F18 startup tutorial mission in the game.

While this wasn't the issue (thanks for your advice but I was already following the procedure step by step and it was even failing in the tutorial - and the order is hold the spring loaded switch on the right panel and whilst holding press button 5 on the right DDI) you did make me think of trying something different.

I've started the plane from cold numerous times before with no issue, it's only been the past couple days. And in the past couple days I must have changed a controller setting. I used the keyboard shortcut and success, FCS test completed again. Now to find out what I've changed ha.

Good you found it :)

(I click OBS first then the switch - it works too)

I have the same problem. Is this a DCS glitch or am I doing something wrong?

Seems you actually need to press+hold Y while clicking the OBS, and don't right click+hold the switch on the right hand wall while left clicking the OBS (like what is explained in the tutorial). The former yields a beep beep beep, the latter does not.

Also this seems to be nescessary prior to having the stabs adjusted to 12 upon pressing and holding the TO Trim button, which is the next step.
