DCS World Steam Edition

DCS World Steam Edition

How to transfer game files to another computer (same steam account) ?
I downloaded the game on my laptop and I want to play it on my pc. I copied the game to my computer. After installing the game it "discovers the already existing files" for few minutes then allocates the game files again and starts downloading the game again despite game files being present on the steam folder. How do I transfer my game files from my laptop to my pc without redownloading?

Haha yes, that one is confusing with Steam. Ran in that problem a few years back and will have the same in a few days when new PC parts arrive and I will rebuild my PC. :)

Steam Game Library - > Select DCS World via Right Click -> 'Backup Game Files' -> select folder/hard/thumbdrive etc -> use CD or DVD output.

Take all that and copy to new PC -> In Steam Top Left 'Steam' drop down menu select -> 'Backup and restore games' -> 'Restore a previous backup' etc. etc.

edit: Oh before I forget, you need to copy the DCS folder from your windows user folder over to the new machine. By default that path is "C:\Users\<YOUR WINDOWS USERNAME>\Saved Games\DCS"

btw: Yes this is really annoying way to do this (I have found no way for Steam to recognize a simply copied over install)

Instead of CD or DVD outputs, can I use external HDD?
On my HDD, in back up folder - it shows disk_1, Disk_2 .. etc
I just don't know how to restore them from my HDD. Any restore exe file or something to execute the restore process? Thanks.
Probably. Honestly steam has it's on documentation for this. Just use google.
