There is even alternatives out there that use webcams to track, just search around a bit. I certainly couldn't fly without somekind of headtracking anymore.
I had Occulus for about 10 days before I returned it for a refund (next gen will be worth
getting) but as it stands right now resolution is far too low
Got a TrackIR today! All I can say is when you can get one. The immersion sits right between with and without the Occulus, no fiddling with switches on the hotas to pan around, the product just works straight out the box. DCS is what TrackIR should be demoed with.
You don t need to buy the 200$ thing.
a 8 years old webcam, the free software "opentrack", a hanger and three pieces of adhesive can do the trick.
The TrackClipPro is the worst piece of hardware ever, but works way better than with the trackhat, especially when on dodgy light conditions. That said, there is a guy on ebay, who buys a supposedly much better alternative, but I don't own it myself. (edit: To clarify, the TrackClip breaks really quick)
TrackIR is certainly not the most elegant or even best working solution (VR is better), but the best we can currently have in that price range.
