Su-33 (Su-27K) Questions
I am gearing up to buy Flaming Cliffs 3, however I have some questions first.

1. Can I use the Su-33 in the "Su-27: The Ultimate Argument Campaign"?
- Or is it only the Su-27?

2. If I get FC3, I will still get the Su-33 Professional Flight Models (PFM), correct?

3. Any ETA on the PFM?

1. I don't think so, but don't take my word for it. Can you edit DLC campaigns in the mission editor for example?

2. Yes, all the PFM upgrades the FC3 planes got are included without charge.

I have no idea as to what the answers to any of your questions are. However, if you have the money, I would REALLY advise you to get Flaming Cliffs 3. I have it, and it's great. No clickable cockpits, but those are complicated anyways. Do you know how to use the Su-25T fairly well? Do you like it? Either way, for either question, you should probably check out the Su-27 training missions. The other FC3 aircraft just have tutorials, and that includes the Su-33.

There is one thing I would like to know, though. Does the Su-33 have any internal ECM, or does it, like its predecessor the Su-27, need the wingtip pods?

Needs wingtip pods like the Su 27.

Yeah, I figured that out on my own. Really annoying, especially because it only has 48 chaff/flares, and it can still only carry 2 R-27T/ET missiles. What exactly does ECM do? Does it get used up, or does it not work like chaff/flares? As for the original questions, I tried the Su-33 for my first time last night. It's a cinch, as long as you know how to fly the Su-27 (which is why I suggest you take a look at those training missions). I really like it, maybe even a little better than the Su-27 (which is hard to beat), and I'll be around to answer questions about it, if I can. :)

Thank you all for your replies. Thanks for bringing up the clickable cockpit, I did not realize that was a thing.
Are they planning to add clickable cockpits in the future?

ECM is an on and off thing. It jams the enemy radar detection by transmitting radar signals to the enemy aircraft 'painting' it with radar. These radar signals are an attempt to scramble the the reflected signal by overwhelming the detectpr and preventing the detector from getting a good reading on the distance, and velocity of the target. However if your radar cross-section is large enough the enemy radar can burn through the ECM and lock you anyway.

In practice this means you can prevent an enemy from getting radar lock until a certain range, however it also alerts your enemy to your presence giving them a heading to your location. So it is advisable to only use it when you know are being locked up by an aircraft.

Now more to the specifics of the Su - 27. If you are fighting against F -15C's it is generally advisable not to bring it. The radar detection range of an Su -27 for an F -15C radar is usually 50 - 80 nm. Jamming with ECM works until about 20 nm but then the F -15C's will usually burn through the jamming. This is also about the max ideal range for the AIM-120C. So you are not really preventing the enemies first missile launch which is what you should be aiming to do with ECM.

If you are fighting against other Su-27's or Su-33's it might be more useful. As ECM disables their Track While Scan mode TWS. This makes it much harder for them to BVR and notch the target. However Flanker pilots are likely to use IO and infrared missiles anyway which aren't affected by ECM.

There are other tactics that could be done in MP. For instance you could have one group equipped with ECM that jams from a long distance and attracts the enemy attention, while a second group lies in and sneaks up on the aggressors. But that is more for another thread.

All the new modules will have clickable cockpits, but no for the FC3 ones. Those are "old" modules coming from Lock On.

Unless something drastically changed it should be able to carry R-27R/ER

Yeah, I've moved on to the Su-33. I still don't like that it only has 48 chaff/flares, no internal ECM, and only 2 R-27T/ETs, but it's growing on me. I like to carry 100% fuel, 100% ammo, 48 chaff, 48 flares, 6 R-27ERs, 2 R-27ETs, 2 R-73s, and 2 SPO-15 ECM pods. Again, if you have questions, I'll be glad to answer them if I can.

Sorry, the radar warning is the SPO-15 "Beryoza", the ECM pods are called the L005 "Sorbtsiya".

Just to confirm, you are not saying that the stand-alone non-FC3 Su-27 has more features right?
The FC3 Su-27 is the same as the stand-alone DLC right?

I wouldn't know about the standalone vs FC3, but I would assume that they're the same. Besides, even if they're not, it's still great fun. I don't think you can use the Su-33 in the Ultimate Argument, but it has its own campain anyways.

Both stand alone and FC3 one are exactly the same.

Thats what I thought thanks!

So I bought "Su-27: The Ultimate Argument Campaign" along with FC3, but do not see the campaign anywhere....
Still looking around though, so I may have missed it.

EDIT:
So I also have NTTR and running open alpha. I also am only able to choose Nevada as my theater.
If I want to see the other modes I need to go back to the regular version?
