DCS World Steam Edition

My aircraft only moves forwards when taxi-ing it.
I'm still in the tutorial as I'm a complete newbie to this game. At one part of the tutorial I'm supposed to taxi my way through to a runway. The problem is that the throttle on my T. Flight Hotas X only accelerates my plane (Su-25T), no matter which direction I push the throttle, may it be forwards or backwards. This is a problem since I can't decelerate the aircraft if I go too fast.

You need to use wheel brakes to decelerate.

There is no "reverse thrust" like some passenger planes have. (Except for Viggen which is not released yet.)

I see, I've mostly played ED and Arma III so I am used to aircraft going backwards. Thanks.
What a nice touch. When will it be released so I know when to open my wallet?

This may sound like an obvious question, but did you bind the throttle using axis binding? It might be a good idea for you to go over all the axis binds (namely throttle, pitch, roll, yaw) to make sure that everything is working correctly. You should be able to slow down (gradually, of course) by pulling back on the throttle. Other than that, you cannot get the aircraft to move backwards on the ground.

Also be careful with the wheel brakes when taxiing, as the nose will dip a bit when you apply then, and you don't want to burst the tyres due to friction.

When taxiing, you should input just enough throttle to get the aircraft rolling and use the rudder to steer left and right.
I bound it to "thrust" as "throttle" didn't exist, only specific commands such as throttle down, up, left up/down, right up/down etc.
Which is kind of a killer since you can only bind an input to one button, then again, the throttle goes backwards and forwards and since there is no JOY_Z_Forwards or JOY_Z_Backwards... it kind of speaks for itself.

You need to go to the axis commands like Tacitus suggests.
Yes, I did that and reassigned "thrust" to JOY_Z and now it's working, he has been a real help.

^Glad you were able to get that figured out :) Binding the controls can be a bit of a pain at times, but it's worthwhile to take a few minutes to set up everything well. You don't want to have to think about what button to press in combat!
