What is that beeping noise?
Hi, I'm trying to like this game but I'm having so much trouble. First, I need to find out what that beeping noise is when I start up the training missions for the SU-25T.

When I get the electrical online, and am about to turn on the lights, an extremely annoying and urgent beeping starts up, and I'm so insanely into finding out what it is that I totally give up trying to continue the training.

I know I must complete this training because everytime I attempt to take off in the campaign mode, the first thing I notice is that I can't get up to take off speed without twisting the steering, which always ends up in a crash. When I do manage to get the crate in the air, after several crashes and restarts, I can never seem to keep the plane in the air after pulling up the landing gear and retracting the flaps, I can fly alright, but can never seem to make it to the front line. What the???

Is this game rigged or what can I do besides just keep trying over and over and over. I must be doing something wrong. Any suggestions would be appreciated at this point. I'll just turn the sound off until I can get it right.

Have you tried reading the manual?
Taco Man Feb 4, 2017 @ 2:27pm
There is an option to turn the sound down in the options. As for flying the plane it's one of the easiest to get up and put down. Use the plane like you should and it will not stall. It's a big ugly brick so fly like a brick. If you want also send me a request and we can play on a server where I can walk you through most of it.

not yet.

(edit) I just attempted to read the manual, and I see that it has all the information I need to find out the source of the sound. I think it's the IAS indicator, or not, but if you only knew the difficulty I have these days just trying to see the screen clearly, you would feel my frustration. (Got some problems with my vision that is correctable with surgery but can't get the courage to go for it).

(another edit)
After spending some time with the manual (my attention span is problematic as well), I have determined this is the most intense manual ever created. I've never had to bother with manuals before in order to get into a game, but this one seems to require the reading. The info and back-story of the SU-25T is fascinating, but alas I have not more time to play nor read. (it's that attention span thing again). If someone could just tell me how to stop the beeping I might be able to figure out the rest with just the online training, or is it even more complicated than that?

Thanks very much. I'll send the friend request. Regarding the sound, if I turn the volume down, I also turn down the experience. I need to find the source of that beeping. It's a warning of some kind.

If you haven't found it out by now...it's the RWR (Radar Warning Receiver) that should be making all the noise. Basically, it detects radar signals around your aircraft and each time it detects a signal, it'll indicate it on the RWR relative to your position (should be right hand side of cockpit). The beeping indicates a radar is in "Search" mode wheras the constant higher pitch hum will indicate that a radar is in "Tracking" mode (locked on to you. Normally this is a bad thing.)
You can turn down the sound without having to turn the game volume down. Once you're in the cockpit use "Right Alt+<" to decrease the volume, and "Right Alt+>" to increase it once more.

Hope this helps.

Also, in addition to RWR volume, Shift+R changes the RWR to only alert if an active lock on you is achieved. If turning off the RWR doesn't make the noise go away, it may be the main master warning. I believe the keypress to mute that is Shift+N.

In regards to your handling questions, what peripherals are you using? Kb+m, joystick or HOTAS? Any aircraft will require slight rudder adjustments to stay on course when taking off. Once in the air, learning to trim the aircraft will be extremely helpful when trying to maintain control. See the options menu for trimming keybinds.

It also may not be the RWR. In the case of the frogfoot, the stall warning sometimes goes off at random times when on the ground. The RWR will sound more like a cardiograph but the stall warning will be this blaring DOO DOO DOO DOO (I tried okay?). In either case your plane is fine.

That noise usually indicates that your seatbelt isn't fastened or a door is open. At least it does in a Nissan Micra.

ithink hes onto it, It does sound like it, and its a red indicator on the upper half left hand side of the cockpit. but how to turn it off?
ReebKing Feb 11, 2017 @ 4:56pm
Most likely the alarm for exceeding max AoA (Angle of Attack), this happens at random when on the ground. Watch the AoA indicator needle in the upper left most gauge, if it goes above the red max. marker it will trigger the alarm. I believe the default keybinding for silencing it is "right shift + n", just remember to unsilence it again once airborne/taking off.

The tutorials are slightly bugged, and can be more frustrating than helpful at times.

Thanks so much, I'm going in to try it out now.

I think it was exactly like the DOO DOO DOO DOO sound. A heavy, bone rattling alert sound. Not sure if I did anything special except press Right Shift-R, but keep pressing Left Shift-R by mistake, and well... don't press the Left Shifty one. Exit. Frustration. Quitting again until I can feel the urge to fly a brick. Just wondering if this Frogfoot can be made to fly like a harrier? If I go slow enough, and pitch the nose up, then hit the throttle, should have a floating/skipping affect, if the avionics still work for the weapons in that position, it should work, no?

Still can't figure it out, but it does stop after a few seconds. I can just turn the volume down until it stops then resume the fun :)

Regarding flying like a brick. I just can't get the stall angle right, but I think I almost got it to hover-like-kind-of went very slow at low altitude, then pointed nose up and sort-of skipped for a few moments then the voice said something I could not understand blaring out of my speakers in a kind of Russian language. Crazy like a Kremlin!!
nniqgwart Feb 12, 2017 @ 11:35pm
have you tried right shift + n? it did solve it for me. The light still lights up, but the sound goes away. the crazy russian voice is probably a stall warning or "pull up", something along those lines, in russian

@POO', thanks. I'll try it as soon as I get out of Fallout 4, which is now done loading..
