Cry of Fear...Nightmare Mode

It's too hard. I honestly don't mean to be a ♥♥♥♥♥ when I say that, but it truly is. I beat the game on the second hardest, but Nightmare is...Well, it's a nightmare.

Do you remember the first enemy that you encounter? The hammer guy? He kills you in four hits. Also, he takes nine downward knife slashes to kill, in cramped quarters. You also only get a maximum of five saves, and that's it. Boom. Can't save six times, buddy. Can you imagine how difficult it will be later on, with enemies clipping through walls, and suiciders almost instantly killing you?

I love the game, I really do. But this is too much for me. Maybe I'm missing something here?

Alright, ninth try. I used one of my precious saves to save on the first recorder, since I have had to restart the game every time I died. I can kill the first enemy without taking damage (By quickly running past him and luring him into the long hallway), but the second one in the sewers is nearly impossible. You don't have enough room to stab and jump back more than three or four times, so the rest (4-5 times) that you have to downward stab him, he can hit you. And he'll kill you faster than you can kill him.

I'm going to keep trying, but...This is...It's insane.

Like...Which? Davi'd Axe, which you have to beat the game 5 times (1 of each 4 endings, then once more to get the secret level)? The camera, where you have to be really fast and speed-run the game in 2 hours and 30 minutes? Or, the FAMAS...Whoops, gotta beat nightmare mode for that!

I either have to beat the game four more times to get the axe (A boring feat), and my best time for getting the camera is 4 hours and 20 minutes. I can't help it, I take my time and enjoy it. The unlockables are too much of a drag to get. Sorry, but that's the truth, I don't have all the time in the world to beat the same game five times over.

When you memorize most of the game, where stuff is and where it goes, you really don't even have to try to get under 2 hours 30 minutes. It's not really hard to. I've unlocked everything except for a few hoodies (I'll agree with you on the fact that noone has the time to beat the same game so many times, you gotta do that to unlock all the useless hoodies) and the donor TMP. The game is meant to be played with the unlockables, it's impossible for a casual gamer to beat the game on nightmare mode without them.

Also, you don't have to beat the game 4 times to unlock the secret level (at least not in the pre-steam verison). You beat it twice, once to unlock a package item, and another using that package item to gain entry to the secret level.

No, I got to the secret level on my second run, but you have to BEAT the game four times, in all endings, to unlock the door that lets you use the 10-digit password to get the axe. You can't just look it up and enter it, you have to get all 4 endings first. I could try to get it in 2 and a half hours again, but it is really quite hard. I hate rushing in games, it ruins the entire thing for me...Though, I suppose on easy it would be...Well, easy. But I get lost very easy.

Does it count if I pause the game? Like, the timer? I might try to get the camera...

All You have to do is get the Package Unlockable from seeing Ending 4, Take it to the College near Saxon Avenue and Deliver it, Then you should get the 5th ending no matter if you Dont Kill the Carcass or dont give the gun to the Doctor or whatever (Mail Box is next to the save infront of the college.) I know you got there and tried to get it and Failed somehow, But you NEVER HAVE TO BEAT IT FOUR TIMES. You Just do all this stuff, Go to the left on that One part with the Girl Ghost Jumpscare, Enter the code, and then Kill a twitcher with that axe (The enemies in that AoM place)

And I guess Famas makes getting the Book Easier

And I'm not sure if Pausing stops the timer, You're In your game and Its working soo..




Fail, Just remembered I haven't Beaten it on Nightmare yet. But I have gotten to the Sawer boss and He's EXTREMELY tough on Nightmare, It takes like 30 Minutes - 1 Hour to beat him even with the Axe.

Thanks Slender, but you NEED to unlock all four endings before punching in the code. It won't work unless all four endings are completed; - I got to the room in the "heaven" level to unlock the axe, but no matter how many times I tried, I couldn't access it; - Then I read that just using the code will not work, unless you've gotten all of the endings in the game. I'll tackle it sometime, but that was basically my plan. The AoM area was pretty easy though...Thanks for telling me about the pause thing. If I play it again, I'll go for an easy camera run.

And...Wow, that's crazy. He's always been an easy boss, but with that much life? Damn.

Maybe they changed it when they moved it to steam. But I unlocked the axe before beating all 4 endings on the pre-steam version.

Hm. Well, I got to the room, abnd I entered the code, and I tried it a good many times. Then I read that you have to get all four endings before unlocking the axe, so...I just gave up.

I got Davids Axe, i even went throu the nightmare that is Doctor Mode to unlock the Nightvision, but i still got stuck on NIghtmare Mode, when i was at the Saver boss. Maaaan.
He has sooo much health! The axe does almost nothing to him. I have to get him down on his knees about 20 times to kill him, and i usually mess up and die when he has like 10%.
Im scared of what comes next. And i already used 2 of my saves! Christ. Ill never make it.
