How do I save?

Well the title sums it all.
How do you save in this game?

use those typing thingies.

Didn't play RE4. Can you be more explicit? I found something while searching, like saving using the console save [save_name] but didn't work.

the tape recorders laying around on the ground in certain parts of the game, usually before something big happens.

Think I figure this out. I think. save [NAME] doesn't work. But I have 2 quick saves in CoF/SAVE folder so I was able to load using console.
I didn't find any tape recorders yet. But I am still at the beginning of the game, right after you find the first door with a lockpad.
Guess I'll have to look for recorders from now on.

@Dr. ToastedBacon - thanks for that but I did what other suggested on other forums and didn't work out :D If it did, I wouldn't be here now.

yeah, just after that padlock part through the door, you do that small little part after and there is a tape recorder up the ladder.

after you found the padlock door go around the community and find papers then press E on one of the barred doors and youll find a computer you'll find a recorder there

You can't save using the console, the creators made it to where you can't do that. There are tape recorders laying around, you save using those.

Allow me to clarify gamers! You have to approach a typewriter and save at those. This is a way of creating suspension for the player as their process is put on the line until the player reaches another typewriter, essentially making them checkpoints.

If this doesn't work in your game, you are ♥♥♥♥♥♥.

This style is saving is popular, being used in such games like Dead Rising and Alien: Isolation (another fantastic horror game.)
