get srandom lag areas too, but it seems to be mostly in the start before any enemies...

We could try turning off Anti-aliasing
number 2. Otherwise:
1. Download the Crash Patch for 64-bit computers (only if you have a 64-bit OS)
from the CoF Moddb page and paste it into your CoF directory (just open your
Steam library and right-click on CoF, then go to Properties, Local Files tab,
and Browse Local Files to bring up the directory).
2. Verify integrity of Game Cache (same location as Browse Local Files),
because some files might be missing (having these files causes an immediately
noticible boost in performance of the game).
3. Mess around with in-game console a bit (dynamic lighting, textures, that
sort of thing; e.g. gl_dynlight 0 -> dynamic lighting = off).
And the last thing (and most important):
4. Boost the brightness (go to Advanced tab in game settings and change
Brightness Boost to a number between 0 and 0.3, like 0.125, which is my
setting). This way, you won't have to use a flashlight anymore!!! :D
Hopefully this helps!
I don't know man. After I verified integrity of the files the game doesnt even load. It just freezes when loading the 3d menu ( I cant turn it off because of the broken launcher)
IT IS MADE ON AN ENGINE THAT IS 25 YEARS OLD.
GoldSrc is older than the pyramids. The fact that the game looks pretty good considering the engine it was made on it is amazing. The engine was basically pushed to it's limits. Be glad it doesn't crash all the time because logically it should have
