If you're doing Hamachi, you need to copy the IPv4 address.
There will be numbers right next to the Power icon on Hamachi, right click on those numbers and a small window box will appear listing two options - "Copy IPv4 address" and "Copy IPv6 address". Click on the Copy IPv4 one, and you will have the correct IP needed to use to connect to the server.
Afterwards, using the IPv4 address, go to CoF and enter into console:
I appreciate the new information on how to connect to servers, however creating a server through port forwarding is still kinda the same - you need to understand how your router works and forward the correct ports.
This discussion page is just for people who may not be so computer-savvy to want to quickly get a coop game going. I listed the "Port Forwarding" option on here just because it is a way to set up a server for Coop.
By the way, I used VPN before to play with my group but over time many of my friends started to get discouraged from playing the game since one of the main problems was the very high ping it caused when connecting through the VPN and that most of us were local, but not long ago I found this old but unknown tool that facilitated the search and connection of own and third-party servers, even my colleagues without having configured their router and ports, can be connected to my host or the of others normally and without high ping. also this useful tool is almost unknown in discussions and dedicated groups, so I try to get this message to all so that the majority can play multiplayer.
So again my apologies for any offense with you.
You didn't offend me, I was just saying my reason for this discussion page. Your information does help because it does allow some people to find a server to join if someone is hosting a server via port forwarding. The person who made the tool didn't really reach out to the devs to at least let them spread the news about the program.
besides only the author published once in discussions there is stagnant and forgotten for most in many pages and I found it by chance when looking for some ADDON for the game by MOD DB and it was really useful that it was a pity that it is not popular for the majority and is forgotten, so I try to get this tool to most of them as another method to play MP.
You are typing your IP address incorrectly. Put your IP that you're copying, followed by the port number. Make sure there's no whitespace. My recommendation is to type it out since copy-pasting might throw in a whitespace without you noticing.
Example: "connect <IP address here>:27015"
Be specific.
What step isn't working for you? What are you trying?
Connecting
Retrying
Retrying
Failed to connect
There is no Whitespace on IP
Both i and my friend tried but doesn't work
Temporarily disable Windows Firewall and do it again.
If you are able to connect, please turn Windows Firewall back on and make an exception through the firewall to allow connections.
You should not be having problems connecting to the server if everything is set up correctly and steps are followed accordingly.
Whenever you have the "retrying..." issue, it's because either 1.) Firewall is blocking connections on the game (it can be your friend's firewall too if he's trying to connect), or 2.) there's a whitespace somewhere in the console command.
To make sure you are typing it into console correctly, copy ONLY the IPv4 and type "connect" followed by a space and then paste the IP into the console. Then you can go ahead and enter to see if you can connect.
