Ladder in apartment revisited

I'm back in the apartment and did everything, now it's time to leave. Problem is it says I need a ladder to climb back out the window. I've searched the entire apartment about 20+ times now looking for a ladder, a way to drain water, new doors to enter, etc. and still have yet to find a way out. I hate asking people to give me the answer cause I like to go through my first time without any assistance but I literally can not find a single way out of this apartment... Was a suppose to grab a second ladder before returning to the taped off room or am I just not noticing something so obvious?

It's in the basement, in the same room you found the video tape during your first visit. If you get stuck swimming around down there, look for a blood smeared wall with a lot of junk underneath it. You can actually crouch on top of the junk and crawl through.

Yeah it took me longer than I'd like to admit to figure that out... I tried it originaly and it didn't work, not to mention it never lets you go over junk so I figured it wasn't doable to I lost all hope and tried for a few seconds to get over it hah

my ladder dissapeared when i loaded a save like it wasnt there any ideas how to fix? Im also on nightmare mode and dont want to lose my proggres.

Yeah. If it's the thing I'm thinking of, you have to go in the basement. There are some boxes or something you can go up, and there's a hole in the wall you're supposed to crouch walk through. I think part also required some patch to be downloaded. I know there's some point in the game that requires a very very specific patch to keep letting you play. Only reason I haven't come back to the game.
