IT IS getting a remake dude
and i'm really hyped for it
Any news sources about the current progress? All I could find by a quick search was a YT video from 10.2020 and the remade epilogue wich is 3 years old.
Sad thing is, some projects like this tend to vanish without anything being heard from anymore. Like PT, U55 - End of the line, etc...
I was looking for infos, is there an official statement/ source for cancellation? But I already estimated it had gotten stopped... Sigh... You're right, "for free" is no good option for a remake which is asking for much time, effort and of course money which is needed for the engine, recources, etc.
There are successful projects out there, crowdfunding, etc. I have no idea how big the CoF fanbase is and how many % would spare a coin to support Team Psyskallar, but it should definitely being promoted.
There IS a large fanbase for horror games, so many ppl are craving for a new Silent Hill, there are many Resident Evil fans and CoF, despite it's age still has a living fanbase.
Hard to believe that there is no bigger studio taking a look at CoF which is such a cool game, still getting attention, a talented team behind it...
There is a large number of games which are as scary as CoF, like Dead Space, Silent Hill, SH2, the highly praised P.T. (even though it only used to be a tech demo), Escape the Ayuwoki, Outlast, Slenderman, just to mention a few. Which is more scary is always a matter of taste. CoF is definitely one of the best, taking into account the aspects of psychological and mental illnesses which are playing an important role.
Only Silent Hill 2 is coming to my mind as a worthy comparison in matters of a certain psychological meaning behind the game. Just like SH2 does, CoF is not just presenting a few levels where you have to combat enemies with some supplies and stay alive. CoF is telling a story of a sick mind, it's reflecting those enemies in regard to the main character's mental constitution and as a matter of fact there is much more of thoughts inside of it than in many other games.
I guess this is what it makes so special and so scary.
Yep, just take a look at Dead Space, all those sob-sob-it's-tooooo-scary-crybabies made the developers turning it from a scary masterpiece (DS1) into a crippled wannabe piece of action junk (DS3).
You're right in any aspect regarding the matter.
