Cant even download the game lol

so i was playing cry of fear and got to chapter 2 then i exited the game to take a break and when i came back it displayed an error when pressing launch so i went to re-install it and now the game is stuck at 100% downloaded and is saying disk writing error and i tried everything on youtube and it still just dosent work

I mean im not an expert log reader since i got my first pc this christmas but thats all i made out (failed to move in file disk write error) and removed from schedule (result disk write failure, state 0x602) and in windows reliability history i didint find anything steam related all I found was WindowsPackageManagerServer.exe

nothing else is working so long shot. so lets try manually moving the files.
you said the game runs and all the files are in
steamapps\downloading\223710

go to folder steamapps\downloading\223710
copy everything
go to folder steamapps\common\Cry of Fear
paste

see if game runs
if not steam verify game file = hopefully it finishes this time.

edit: thought of another thing to try - run steam with admin permission then steam verify game files. maybe the error is related to steam not being able to install the additional libraries the game needs

everytime i turn my pc on the files go missing again im done trying to fix it ill just launch the game from my file explorer and i cant move one file to the common folder since its giving me a pop up and pasting the whole folder instead of the file. maybe if i get tired of it ill just move on to a different game since its so annoying

at this point uninstalling/reinstalling steam may be the only fix. but just for one game sort of overkill. perhaps create a desktop shortcut to the game launcher and run it from the the shortcut.
