Cry of Fear

Cry of Fear

Cry Of Fear port to the Sega Dreamcast
As a small ammount of you may know, there is a port of Half-Life to the Dreamcast (also known as Half-Life Gold) that was never released and for all we know could have saved Sega. This port doesnt have any official coppies, however if you know how to burn Dreamcast games using Nero or Discjuggler 6, this games data (iso) is available for the download and is a MUST HAVE (comes with Hazard course and Blue Shift). Enough talking about that though, as you may also know is that Cry Of Fear is made off the old Half-Life engine. Not just ANY HL engine, but a slightly unheard of version called GoldSrc. Well, it just so happens that Cry Of Fear was also made off the GoldSrc too. As much of a magic trick it may sound like, im here to tell you that GoldSrc mods have already been ported to the Dreamcast such as They Hunger, Paranoia, Gunman Chronicles,007 Golden eye, and even a Counter Strike mod (dont think theres multplayer). If the Dreamcast can handle the GoldSrc engine and run so perfectly smooth, it is most likely possible for a Cry Of Fear mod to be compiled to a dreamcast format and put into cdi form. Does anyone know how it can be done?

I promise these arent fake. Burnt and tested them myself (may have bugs and glitches)

The thing is...
Cry of Fear runs on an HEAVILY MODIFIED version of the Gold SRC.
I mean look, CoF almost look's like it's running on Source Engine 2007
rather than Gold SrC, and honestly
port a game such as CoF to DreamCast, it would literally take way too much
time and not worth the hassle

and also if the pc version takes 5 gb of space, it would be impossible to compile it in one cdi,
it would need a dvd to even been stored

its possible an ps2 version with a lot of compression, since the ps2 was impressive considering the 200mhz of cpu

Question is what is to be achieved by doing so but "just doing it". You won't have a better gaming experience on the DC, playing CoF with the DC controller will be quite funny I'd guess (I'm opem for other experiences) and you'd have to expect lots of errors potentially.

Yes, for making it running on the DC, for the "whoah, it works" effect, it would be a nice thing. But putting the work into something else could return a more interesting result maybe?

I own three Dreamcasts, btw ^^
