Cry of Fear

Cry of Fear

will cry of fear ever get a remake? and question for the remake (if happens)
okay i really don't know if this game gets a remake (obviously the expensive to make it happen and all that but again can't tell) and my question is (obviously) that would this game ever get a remake in the future if the creator of cry of fear manage to start a company or something?

also if it does here a few things i want for cry of fear remake

1.full controller support

2.verified on steam deck

3.a good saving would be good (like auto-save, save and quit etc) beside finding recorders to save (no offense by the way)

4.DLC's like new campaign, weapons, etc

OMG I WOULD LOOOOOOOOVE A COF REMAKE!!! SADLY ENOUGH AS FAR A IS KNOW BOTH THE REMAKES WE HAD/HAVE ARE CANCELED DUE TO FUNDING/PERMISSION ISSUES. PLUS, THE TEAMS SPLIT UP NOW I THINK. :(

TBH I HATE TO SOUND RUDE, BUT MAYBE THEY CAN PUT MORE NEW PARTS IN THE STORY? LIKE SAY HAVE SIMON AND SOPHIE'S FRIENDSHIP EXPLAINED IN MORE FLASHBACKS OR SOMETHING? TBH I FEEL LIKE SHE DESERVES HER OWN CUSTOM CHAMPANGE TOO, SHE'S SO UNDERATED, JUST A PERSONAL OPINION, NOT TRYING TO BE RUDE TO THE CREATORS.

Unfortunately these days working in vid game dev industry is all about sucking money out of theirs customers, and like people that are actually ambitious and want to express their feelings in a form of video games will simply struggle because 1 their game might be too niche to attract anyones attention 2 no one wants to fund media that is not found to be following current trends and 3 making a good game from top to bottom is awfully long and expensive process ( either alone or with small team ).

RuMpel has tried to remake said game two times at this point, first on source engine then on unreal engine 4 and as much of impressive demos they were it took him literal years to make them, here is the exact quoting of him mentioning it:

"Andreas Rönnberg / ruMpel — 23.02.2023 14:10
I only live one time. Maybe I'll be 80 years old

And CoF already took 5 years to make. That's 7% of my whole life

And I already spent like another 3 years trying to create a remake. That's another 4% of my life, gone

Now trying to remake it again without the money or help, would maybe take like 15 years. That's like 17% of my life

I won't spend my whole life for 1 game"

So in a sense, the remake of the game is not entirely out of picture but like i menitoned earlier, there is also the aspect in funding this entire process:

"Andreas Rönnberg / ruMpel — 23.02.2023 14:01
Games just take longer to make today. And it's all thanks to the graphics.

If a model took 5 minutes to make 15 years ago. It now takes like 5 hours instead. So it's like it takes 60 times longer to make content

And you need to hire tons of artists and developers to make a game. It costs insane amount of money

A single person cannot do that alone anymore"

This probably comes as a saddening fact but that is our current reality, and unless something happens we can only wait and see what future brings, i do hope that we might get a another peak at the remake at some point but for most part its just better to keep your expectations low and don't think too much about.

it would be pretty cool if they made a remake but i think the whole vibe and the low render makes the game even better and makes it scarier in my opinion but still apart from the appearance i think they could make some changes and improvements to bugs and glitches

Discord in short is a communication app, its like spiritual successor to Skype but most features come free. I assumed that at this point every regular joe has a discord account but that might not be the case so if you are infact still interested about learning more within Cry Of Fear community then i suggest you make yourself a Discord account from their official website, install the app and start browsing their official channel with that invite link i provided :)

As an ex creator, I can totally relate to this. Do I want to spend 10-20 years making something? Honestly, no. It sounds cool on paper, but it's rather unhappy in practice.
That's why I dropped my old work and found other things to do. It was a healthy decision.

Some people hate me for my decision, but meh, what do they know? They probably believe I wave my hands and magic happens. Ignorance is bliss (and maybe frustration, too).

To be frank I dare hope that there will be remake for CoF. I will appreciate it if bugs of 1.6a can be fixed.
