Can the brightness be fixed?

Didn't do anything, I think I'm currently on the highest brightness. I typed

bind x "gl_brightness 0.300000"

and

bind y "gl_brightness 0.000000"

Except it says "thank" after one of the commands, but I assumed that was a typo because when I entered that the command would not work
