How to fix crashing on loading for Cry of Fear. Cry of Fear crashing after loading white text.

Go to the cry of fear directory and go to the exe called 'hlds' Right click it, click properties and go to compatibility. Click run this program in administrative mode and then click run this program in compatibility mode for; Windows XP Service Pack 3.

Click apply or ok and then go back to the directory. Now do the same for 'cof' and 'CoFLaunchApp' except for 'CoFLaunchApp' don't choose to run in administrative mode.

Leave hltv ALONE. And run the game. Once you run the game, wait for it to load. It should be a black screen for a couple minutes and then load, if you load it enough or something it should instantly load up the next time.

And don't forget to download and use '64bit patch' manually that steam will not download automatically.

That didn't help me.

As a 64 user, it did help me. the game is more stable now. All 64 user must give it a try even when no crash.

Hm, also 64 bit but It still didn't help.

It gives me no option for compatibility in Properties.

Then your computer is bugged, try searching google for an answer. I've never had this issue.
Maybe you didn't see it? What version of windows are you running?

This worked just fine for me! THanks a ton! i was having some resolution issues afterward, but running it in windowed mode then switching to fullscreen fixed the issues.

you need to turn on DEP for all programs and services except those i selected: and choose cof. then reload ur pc.

I did this but unfortunately the game still gives me a fatal error when I press "launch game" so ig this isn't the solution to my problem
