Simon's book
Am I the only one that wants to read Simon's book? I feel like it'd be interesting.

I think you are confused, the story of Simon's book is Cry of Fear's twisted fantasy world.
Here's some clarification: http://cry-of-fear.wikia.com/wiki/Book_Simon
If you don't want to click on the link here's the most relevant quote:
The little twist is that you fight him as the Real Simon, in a wheelchair. The player played in fact Book Simon, during the entire game until the end (and plays him in endings 1 to 3).

The wiki's interpretation of the deeper implication:
Book Simon can be considered as the embodiment of all of Simon's mental problems. His depression, anxiety, despair and hatred towards everyone and everything. It is hinted that if the player chose the 'dark' paths (such as sparing Carcass and/or not trusting Purnell), the Simon played throughout the game turns into the bloodied, battered form he is seen here.

Furthermore Doctor Mode, is all about destroying the Book, so Simon can never live this nightmare, reinforcing that the book and reality became one for Simon.

In addition, the Co-op campaign is about police officers invetigating Simon's case and his book, and unintentionally getting consumed by the nightmares of the book. The only way for them to escape is to prevent any of Cry of Fear's events from happening, by stopping the black day (Simon's accident), in a sense this is much nicer than the Manhunt campaign, because at least Simon gets to live a normal life, but sadly it is not considered the "true ending", but everyone is welcome to accept whatever ending they want ;) .

Lastly, in the Manhunt Co-op campagin, a similar concept with the police officers is used, except this time the police officers work to stop Doctor Purnell from ever suggesting Simon writes the book, but unlike the other Co-op campaign he will still be in a wheelchair.
