Doctor Purnell ruins everything, especially S rank

Couldn't find any threads on this. Anyway, as the title suggests this is an S rank rant.

Played this game a few years ago, finally decided to revisit it for the S rank, because I was too lazy to do it before. I didn't have my saves because they were on my old PC, so I had to do everything again, I of course didn't mind, great game and all that. I went through all endings (not a requirement, but just for Nostalgia), while doing that I get the camera, get the axe, and lastly I beat Doctor mode. I am all set.

I go through the whole of Nightmare mode perfectly; I only needed to use 5 bullets, to kill 5 suiciders in annoying places. I get to the Doctor, have some trouble beating him, but in the end I do it. The rest is easy. I wait for the credits to end... And... 17 PERCENT ACCURACY?!?!?! SHOTS HIT: 5?!?!?! SHOTS MISSED: 23?!?!?! Apparently sometimes shots fired at Purnell don't register.

Now this isn't a huge problem, right? WRONG! To put it into perspective, it took me 22 shots to kill the doctor, as I only missed 1 shot on him. If we assume that this is going to happen everytime I try to kill him, I have to somehow make up for the other 198 shots during the campaign, and land all 22 shots perfectly.

Luckily this run isn't completely wasted, although I am a bit annoyed that all I have to show for my run is the Famas, trash gun, it has a niche, but that's about it (you can't convine me otherwise, so don't even bother trying...). Anyway, my very last of the 4 saves is right before Doctor Purnell as I consider his fight to be the hardest part in the game, so in my opinion it is a must to save before him, as it is easy to make a mistake, especially with the suicider charging at you. I will reload my save a few times and see if that helps, and update this thread, mentioning whether the issue happens everytime or randomly.

Also the wiki has some missing information as it states the the Glock and Famas are only responsible for this, but I used the Ruger P345 and switched to Glock when I ran out of ammo. I of course do have video evidence of my entire run if anyone is interested, however it will take some time to upload as my upload speed is bad... Like really bad... And these recordings are around 8 GBs total, so even if I get them up on YouTube can't really do it in an hour. I will probably edit the footage, and upload the segments where I use bullets, and then show the ranking screen, and link the full unedited footage in the description later on.

Yes, it's an annoying bug, you should go to skill.cfg file in game directory and change p345 damage to 10000. Also, how did you kill him with only 22 bullets?

I'll take a look at it and see if it helps. Even if I do that, I still have to make up for 9 shots (for 90% accuracy) :/ ARGH if I had known this would happen, I wouldn't have depended so much on the Camera and the Axe.

1) By being extremely accurate and patient with my shots
2) p345 does 20 damage, which is 7 more than the Glock, which does 13 damage.

With a few quick calculations:
15 * 20 = 300. (I successfully shot Purnel 15 times with the p345, each shot doing 20 damage)
7 * 13 = 91 (these 7 shots were from the Glock doing 13 damage each)

Therefore Doctor Purnell has around 391 HP in Nightmare Mode

If you were to use the Glock on its own :
391/13 = 30.076923

So it will take 30 or 31 shots to kill Doctor Purnel with the Glock. This is as close as I can get to an estimate, since I don't know what the exact HP value is. Since you are limited to 2 p345 mags, you can't make the fight any quicker.
