There are some levels of the fear level. As how much times players beat this game of Main Campaing as Simo, then you want to play it again? Then you dont have to be scared. You can just speedrun this game. But what about Custom Campaign dude.Youd better see it by yourself. . . . . . . .It has too much spooky bloody ♥♥♥♥. . .I just ♥♥♥♥ my self. xD
Because jumpscares aren't good in any way? They simply startle someone and startling isn't "horror" nor is it "scary".
What is scary is the atmosphere and the feeling of being watched/chased while trying to fight for your life.
I play games because they are fun.
I don't judge games on how "scared" they make me because at the end of the day it's just a video game. I don't understand how people are so easily intimidated by horror movies and games in the first place.
People who are legitimately scared by games are probably either overreacting or just easily terrified people.
So when you say they "aren't good in any way" well one, that makes you ignorant, but it also means you have a simple mindset. Startling someone can spook them just as much as creeping them out, sometimes even more. Think edgy guy watching from across the street vs. someone bashing down a door and jumping on you.
The truth is, you only like one type of horror and can't respect all forms. This is very crippling if you want to scare someone since using all methods is the best way to go especially when some people are not intimidated by specific forms of horror.
Also, half the people who "hate jumpscares" are probably just more affected by them than they'd like to be.
Whatever you say, bud. I am not here for a lesson but I was here to have a question answered and you didn't contribute to this discussion not even one bit.
Also, like you said, horror depends on someone and I'm sorry if having a bunch of "spooky" stuff thrown at your face isn't scary for me. I simply know how true horror works and throwing ♥♥♥♥ at your face isn't in any way horror.
I was the first and only person in this discussion to say exactly how many harmless jumpscares are in the game (3). Just because you don't like my statement that doesn't mean I "didn't contribute."
Also there is no such thing as "true horror" that sounds like something a depressed teenager would say. I'm not trying to make an argument here, I'm using way too many ad hominems for this to be considered an argument. I'm just sick of hipsters in the horror community.
Jumpscares are an ingredient for a horror game, but they're just aggravating when overused and some people dislike them as a result. If you use the same method of scaring someone repeatedly, it will get less effective.
Think of it like soup. A good horror game should have atmosphere, like any soup should have broth. Other horror aspects are all the other ingredients. Would you be happy with the soup you ordered if it's just a bowl full of carrots with next to no broth? If you like carrots you might, but it's not going to satisfy anyone who wanted soup.
A lot of modern horror games seem to consist entirely of jumpscares with little atmosphere or gameplay to back it up. Since your taste in gaming is entirely subjective, a better way to describe these games would be "unbalanced in horror tools".
This game has variety just like many other games that have jumpscares. I just can't stand people that hate jumpscares in general and want to tell the whole world. A lot of people think that if a game has a couple jumpscares or QTEs or whatever other thing hipsters like to whine about, that it automatically makes the game bad and they need to tell everyone about how bad they think it is.
