The usage of the safety harness.
I managed to finish the usual mountains, I finished bouldering, and I even managed to beat the first really difficulty mountain without any use of the safety harness. Though, faced with another hard climb, I decided to finally try it out and...honestly, I can't make heads or tails of how it works.

I'm told that it is a passive thing, simply having it allows you to do...something. You can remove anchors while still attached. Still attached to what? The rope? When I lay down a new anchor, the original slips away to hang. When I press T, I had half-expected to simply collect the old anchor and allow me to continue my ascent.

I feel rather silly in asking, but what do I seem to be doing wrong?

Normally, when you pick up a rope, the rope connected to you will be disconnected. This means you can't rope up, climb back down to grab an old rope, then pull yourself back up.

With the safety harness on, you can pick up old ropes without disconnecting the one you're attached to. This means you can essentially be permanently roped up as you put a rope down, climb up, put a new rope down, drop down to collect the old rope, then pull yourself back up to the current rope. Rinse and repeat ad infinitum to climb mountains without the risk of falling.

Ah, this makes so much more sense. Thank you!
