I think I've hit my limit
I love this game, but I'm running out of things I can do in it that are feasible for me. I've beaten every mountain without the safety harness except for Solemn Tempest. I completed all of the time trials. I did all of the Advanced peaks without rope in the normal mode. I even went into You Fall, You Die and made my way over to the advanced mountains to do Walker's Pillar and Great Goal without ropes. (For some reason, I didn't get any chalk until after Walker's Pillar, so that was a fun thing to learn halfway up the mountain when falling means death). I was going to go for the other advanced mountains without rope in You Fall, You Die... but I went straight for Ymir's Shadow (because I generally find it easier than Eldenhorn and St. Haelga for some reason) and made a fatal mistake near the end of the third crux. My run ended with twenty-two peaks cleared.

I know I can do Eldenhorn, St. Haelga, and Ymir's Shadow without ropes in You Fall, You Die. I just don't know if I'm willing to redo fifteen fundamentals and five boulders every single time I screw up trying (even though I can use rope on those fundamentals). I think Expert Cragsman (for doing all of the fundamentals in Free Solo mode) and doing the Great Bulwark without ropes in You Fall, You Die might also be doable, I just don't think I'm willing to grind it out.

Just between the permadeath in You Fall, You Die and Free Solo mode; doing Solemn Tempest without ropes; and... well, doing Solemn Tempest without a safety harness in general; I think I've hit my limit. Is anybody else trying any of these and having a really tough time with it?

Edit: Not sure if it's important to mention or not, but I'm playing on Steam Deck. The only real problem I've had with the Steam Deck so far is detaching from a rope while swinging which, as far as I know, is something I need to do on Hangman's Leap to progress. (I genuinely have no idea how to do Hangman's Leap free solo now that I think about it).

Overall for regrinding the 15 peaks and 5 boulders it was tedious as well for me but I have managed to bring it down to like 15 minutes or so in total to unlock the advanced category with just getting more and more confident in myself and my leaps. 1 thing I find handy is that you don't die if you fall into water regardless of the height, so you can save those peaks for last and get the peaks you consider risky out of the way first. (Hangman's leap is possible free solo btw, there is a sneaky hold at the beginning of the climb and you can one hand swing around the rock on the 2nd leap o faith and land next to the rope).

I have been on the same journey more or less till today (YFYD ropeless on Great Gaol and Walker's pillar). I have been ramming myself at Solemn tempest without rope for the last few days on normal mode and got to 5.8k meters on it. Then decided to take a break and go try to do you fall you die without ropes on Eldenhorn, St. Haelga and Ymir's shadow. Their difficulty feels much easier after doing Solemn tempest for a few days. This led to me going for The Great Bulwark, which I also finished right after the other 3 advanced peaks in about half an hour.
I lost the run to backtracking for an item on Great Gaol for the chalk and 2x rope length sadly with 36 peaks scaled. I wouldn't bother with the items but the infinite chalk seems super handy for whenever I get around to trying Solemnt tempest on YFYD without ropes.

I'll probably go and do Solemn tempest with the safety harness to see what's waiting for me on the last 1k meters and save the ropeless journey for YFYD (and practice the section I failed on on my PB) then move on to do some achivements for free solo, which shouldn't take me long since besides using a few uses of Chalk on Elderhorn I haven't been using any other items.

The 36 peaks and all but 3 items took me a total of 2 hours so despite losing so close to having everything ready I feel like I can regain everything fairly quickly

yup me too, I basically have to do final mountain with no safety harness and start smashing myself at the new game modes which tbh I rely quite a bit on ropes embarrassingly so I could prob get up to advanced but then id start having issues and don't think its worth pulling hair out over that lol. Still love the game though just dunno what else is feasible for me. I shouldn't complain tho the trophies I have left all have like less than 1% of people achieving so I think its normal xD.

I've been super excited for the DLC and I fully intend to come back and play it in the near future. I just lost some of my save data recently, (I lost the mountain progress, but not the collectibles, for some reason), so I was considering replaying the entirety of the base game (except Solemn Tempest because I can't be bothered) before jumping into the DLC.

On that note, is the DLC good? I've been attempting to avoid spoilers in case there's something really cool in there.
