I agree that the demo is very good, very demonstrative. The climbing controls are quite intuitive, though the aiming feels rather random.
My personal issue is that I didn't find a way to pause mid-way without losing grip, and my old thumbs need to rest once in a while.
On a side note, I ignored the game as soon as I saw precision-platformer as a keyword, but the trailer was playing and didn't show a precision-platformer at all, hence my trying the demo after being intrigued. It's a great trailer in my book. And the game is definitely not what I call a precision-platformer. 'Climbing' as the main keyword is the best fit, and 'physics' completes the picture pretty well.
Changed those settings, feels like a different game now. Thanks.
As to your problem, I recommend enabling toggle to grip. This makes your hands "sticky." You need only click once to grab and don't have to click and remain holding to stay attached. This is by far the saner option IMO.
