Miasmata keeps crashing
Sorry, bit of a newb with finding the specs.
Bought the game today and the four times I tried to play, it crashed.

First time I was able to start a new game and the intro got to the "your Robert Huges" and the game stopped working.
The second two times I choose my safe game that was created during the first crash and before it compleetly loads, it crashes.

The first try was without beta, the last two in beta.

The fourth time was again in beta on a new safe with all the graphics down to low and model detail to 50%. Got to the end of the intro with the watersound before it froze and then crashed.

My specs
Windows 7 (32 bits)
AMD Athlon 64X2 dual core processor
4096 mb ram
ati firegl v7350

The problem details I get from the crashes is

I have the same problems. Plus a severe FPS drop when reaching folliage in my case. Crashes on any resolution.
My Specs
Windows 8 64bit
Intel I7 960
6GB ram
Nvidia 9800gtx2

-----later edit----
Also , in my case , I tried the game directly with beta patch.

Having the same issue, can't get past the loading screen after intro. First two times it crashed, third time I lowered the in-game quality and it blue screen'd.

Blue screens would point to a hardware issue. Do you have any graphical anomalies before the crashes or blue screen? Perhaps your video card is overheating or you have some conflicts with your installed video card drivers?

Really? The screen flashed black then white, but this is the only game giving me any problems.

Yeah, it could just be that Miasmata pushes your hardware enough in certain ways, that it reveals underlying hardware issues. You could try lowering your GPU clock with an overclocking utility to rule out overheating. Otherwise, I'd recommend running a memory diagnostic tool. When software has an issue, you get crashes. When hardware has an issue(physically or through a buggy driver), that's usually when blue screens happen.

The black/white flashes could be anything and they could be related to a bug in Miasmata. Can you give me your system specs?

Sorry to be a complete noob with you, but I have no idea about the specs on here. And command I can run to give you this info?

I'm afraid the problem likely rests with your video card. Your card(correct me if I'm wrong) is a 6 year old workstation card, and likely doesn't have the capability to run Miasmata. I'm not totally familiar with workstation cards, but I think that is probably the culprit. The fact that it never displays the in-game world is telling.

Ok , those guys might not have the sufficient hardware , but my 9800gtx2 2gbs of GDDR5 memory is that bad it can't display this game? on the store page it said the minimum is a dual core and a 8800gt. Please explain!

I'm sorry to hear that. I know how frustrating that is, especially since you should be able to play it fine with your 9800. We actually started development on Miasmata with the Nvidia g92 chip in mind. Can you tell me what happens? Does it crash, or does it not display properly? Are you able to navigate the menus and get through the intro text, where it says "In a different place and time..."? Do you get an error that the 'display driver' crashed, or anything like that? I'm sure you've tried this already, but if you haven't, try updating your video drivers. Any feedback you can provide would be helpful. I'm wondering if the dual-chip nature of that card is problematic in some way with what our engine is trying to do. I'll pass this along to Joe and see what he thinks.

No worries. :) One way to find this info is to type "dxdiag" into windows(no quotes). To do this in XP, click Start>Run and type it in there. In Win7, click Start and type it into the search box. Vista is similar to XP I think in that way. When the DirectX diagnostic tool pops us, look for Processor and Memory under the System Tab. That'll be useful. Then, under the Display tab, you should be able to find your video card information in the Device section.

@IonFX : Since I am working as a QA at another company , I will proceed to make a full feedback report as soon as I get back home. Main problem was related to the Front End that was quite laggy. Also , ingame , there was an unusual framerate drop as soon as I would get near some foliage or prop ( like a bush or for example or the boat at the starting area).

Hey Slenderbrine, thanks for providing the info! Unfortunately, I think your issues do in fact rest with your video card. Miasmata requries an 8000 series or better for Nvidia cards, and it looks like your card is a 7600. We list an 8600gt as the minimum. The 7000 series pre-dates some of the gpu architecture that Miasmata demands. That would explain why it was never able to render any in-game content.

Ah, okay, so at least I know what the problem is. I'll probably work on replacing that sometime soon. Thanks for the help.
