This game costs the same as Helldivers 2. Let that sink in....
The story mode and challenge modes are both lame additions. The devs should of instead concentrated on online leaderboards and score. That is where the replay value really would lie. 1ccing the game for a good score and trying to better other players scores..
They also expect a game franchise that is famous for co-op play to have online co-op play.
Especially when one man can make the same game, complete with online co-op play and only charge £3.99 for it, and with a much much better soundtrack.
Are there indy games that have great value? Indeed!
This is Konami, what did you expect?
In my opinion this is not a 2 hours game as people say. if you want to die 30+ times, use continues every single mission and barely beat the game in 2 hours then I guess that CONTRA is not for you.
I don't agree with the price of $40 and I think that the price needed to be $15 for everyone if the game is not going to have online co op but this is not a 2 hours game as a lot of people is trying to sell it. If you want to play a game "once" go and play any other modern game.
If Konami got the rights to the game Pong they would release it exactly as it looked in 1972 and sell it for $50...and it wouldn't have online co-op.
All Konami cares about is money, nothing else.
It's definitely a game meant to be played over and over in arcade mode. Kind of have to look at it the same way you would these modern shmups that regularly go for $30-40...it's a waste of money if you're just going to credit feed through it once.
Even with that in mind, $40 is a little much. If Iron Meat was already out, I'd have probably skipped this for now and just gone with that but I'm beginning to think that game is going through some serious development hell. Almost certain Wayforward has something to do with why this game is priced the way it is- keep in mind this same dev asked 30 for what was essentially a no-frills port of an apple arcade game (shantae and the seven sirens).
I was excited, but I expected a pricing more in line with Hard Corps: Uprising and not this pricepoint
I think you mean Contra 3. Though no, I did not buy it (but a similiar entry Super Ghouls'n'Ghosts), but even if I did, it's not all that black & white as you try to paint it here.
a) Expectations (and technical capabilities) had been different
b) Technical Capabilities (though there had been lenghtier games out there)
c) Games are now in an abundance and the choice is bigger than ever.
This is what I intend to do, but the problem here really is, that Konami will somehow will fault lack of interest and not their price point for maybe not making another Contra for the forseeable future. The competition is stiffer and people might loose interest. That's just me though.
I know I am not entitled to the price I see fit (and Konami can charge what they want) and will see how fast and how steep a discount comes. I've yeeted already enough games of my wishlist, that I might not be interested in this game much later, if there are better options (like IRON MEAT, linked in other threads).
2-At the time there was a thing called Blockbuster(and others) so no I didn't buy it I rented it.
3-If it's only 2 hours you can get a refund and get the game for free.
Not really a smart move for Konami.
