Before it unlocks, you need to put in the code on the title screen.

On the PS5 version you press Square, Cross at the end instead of B, A. Try that and see if it works.

Duh, my fault. I also have an arcade stick plugged in, which the game registered as the controller for P1. I did the Konami code on that and it worked.

I can't make the code work for me. I dunno what's the deal.

I'm doing Up Up Down Down Left Right Left Right, then, as I'm using a DS4 controller (with native support), I tried all sorts of combinations. Cross and Circle, Cross and Square, and viceversa, but the perk doesn't unlock.

I got it to work. As you boot the game up, you need to apply the code just before the main menu appears.
