Sound Bug, Anyone else?
Ok so I downloaded DCoTE last night and after much tenacity (as well as frustration) I managed to finally get all (or at least most of) the bugs fixed. I also got that extra shader and gfx "mod" just for fun. But there is still one big thing in my way (well I guess not that big; after all, it is playable and still really fun)... Every now and again (sometimes more frequently than others and to a greater extent than others) people who are talking will get the last instant of their sound cut off suddenly. The periodic range of the missing sound can be anywhere from the very last letter sound they speak, to even a full word or two depending on the speed of their speech. So I was wondering: if nobody has a fix for this, I would at least appreciate it if someone would leave a comment saying that they are experiencing this as well so I can determine if it is something with the game that I will have to live with or if it has something to do with something of mine or what have you (I've looked online and could not find anything like this). Thank you :D!

I'm also having this issue and it seems to only get worse, I'm at a point where I feel like half the conversations get lost in the aether. It's starting to get really annoying.

Dang. Well first off thanks for replying and letting me know someone else is having trouble.Second, I think i heard somewhere that it might have something to do with those media 9 codecs that are installed when you first install the game. if it gets to the point where more than a few words are missing for me, i'm gonna try reinstall maybe...
this time without running the first game set up thing. idk might just be a lost cause

Well let me know how that pans out, I'd love to take some of the guess work out of the conversations. Until then it seems like we'll just have to live with it, but hey at least it isn't game breaking.

True, and I will post if I find a fix.

I have this same issue, I tried installing new codecs (cd version). Nothing seems to work. Sadly, I am playing the game for the story and the sound cutting out like that is kind of ruining it.

I hear ya. I hear ya. It's a shame but, though this won't stop my playing, I will still keep my eye out for a fix (or at least any tricks to partially alleviate the problem) and keep trying; and if I find anything new I'll be sure to post it. Thanks for for replying!

Hi guys, I managed to fix this issue. I copy, deleted and pasted all the files from the pc sound folder into the folder again. (I also installed the unoffical patch and sweet fx, though sweet fx did next to nothing) then playing through the game I made sure to save on a different save slot each time and the audio glitch corrected it self. I was playing through the marsh refinery so there are lots of save points, by the time i got up to jacob marsh and his 'beast' the audio was working correctly.I have no idea why this works or which part actually took effect all i know is that's what i did and now the audio works fine, no cut offs. I did not reinstall, this is all with first time setup installation.

I have the same problem.

Nobody ever got a real solution for it?

This problem can be solved easily and quickly. In the settings nvidia need to enable vsync. By the way, you can include anisotropic filtering and it really improves the graphics, but you need to have a powerful graphics card

Did that and now the mouse is all funny, but it did fix the audio.

Hey guys, I know this is an old thread but thought I'd give an update from a Windows 10 user.

Had the sound cutting off issue that was making the game virtually unplayable.

Installed unofficial patch 1.5 - googled and there's another steam thread with settings here:

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=281320157

Then set up a program specific profile in NVidia control panel under '3D Settings' to force VSync on the games .exe file.

This has now resolved the issue as best as it can be I think. You still lose a half word here and there, but not often and not enough that you don't know the word used.

Limit your FPS through a program. See my post.

Yes, it is always the last word of a dialogue snippet that partially cuts off. Was an issue in particular on the basement below the church.

Capped at 60fps, still happens.

I'm not using nvidia dude. So this "fix" clearly is useless. The obnoxious thing is it's literally the only thing I actually want to have fixed. I have no interest in any of these mods unless something out there actually fixes the audio clipping off. That "patch" also basically just looks like it's for cheating.
