Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth

Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth

We need a remake
Literally the best Lovecraft-inspired game we've ever had. The atmosphere is incredible. Just imagine it with modern graphics, improved gameplay mechanics, and smarter enemy AI — enhanced stealth, improved barricading, better shooting mechanics, more hiding spots, and new enemies that only appear when your stress level is high. Add a crafting system, more story progression choices, and multiple endings, and it could easily become one of the best games of the year. Of course, If it were handled by the right development team.

Some of these ideas were originally planned. Here’s a short excerpt from Wikipedia:

Headfirst Productions originally intended for a much larger, nonlinear role-playing-type storyline to be fitted within the game, including more characters and locations, as well as a cooperative gameplay system for up to four players. The latter would have enabled the players to pick one of four characters and either carry out their own investigation independently or team up with the others (in case of single-player gameplay, the other three investigators would be under AI control).

A competitive multiplayer mode would have allowed for online deathmatch rounds in specifically designed levels. Several other ambitious features, such as a deeper sanity system and a high degree of environment interactivity, were also scrapped due to budget and time constraints and problems with the level design. The game was always supposed to use first-person view, but the screenshots from 2001 showed some third-person perspective stealth gameplay. Much of a promised "wide array of weapons" at the player's disposal was conceived but ultimately removed from the game, including a wooden club, a Mauser C96 automatic pistol, and a pump-action shotgun. Various weapon models and concept arts from the game were released by a former Headfirst artist Niel Venter via DeviantArt.

Oh, I’m not sure why, but the video won’t play for me — I just get an error. However, if I hover the cursor over different parts of the timeline, it sort of works like a slideshow. So yeah, it looks good!
I just started playing it again with HD and QOL mods, and after just an hour or two, it's leagues ahead of, say, Alone in the Dark. You feel the madness and mysteries of the H.P. universe in every moment, and it draws you in whether you want it or not. I really hope they make a remake. Until then, I'll keep playing this and The Sinking City or Call of Cthulhu. Please, more good Lovecraft games like this, developers out there ;-)

(For those who didn’t know: “The Sinking City 2” is also on the way…)

It is a unlisted video (not public), but it should be visible.

Just a warning here, I started to import the first level of the game in UE5 and have been working with some lights and interactions, so far the game actually looks amazing to walk around.

Next step is to try to MetaHuman some of the Police, but as I am a dev and not a artist everything art wise takes more time :P.
I have to say that the newer COC is also a very nice game ;-)
