What I've Learned So Far: Early-Mid Game Strategy
Hey all. Through a bit of trial and error, I think I've picked up a few strategies that I can pass on to others as they are getting started. Here we go...

Vibrancy

Vibrancy appears to have little/no impact on the performance of your fable but is required for boosting your Fabledex Bonus. This bonus increases your damage in mining and your earnings in training. These start pretty modest at first, so don't get too worried about Vibrancy in the early game.

As you start to get Rare fables, Vibrancy is a requirement for trades (in addition to GS). So, you'll need to pay attention to that more in the mid-game.

My recommendation, in the early game, is to prioritize Genetic Score over vibrancy. Your fables will mine faster, train faster, which will speed your progression more than marginal benefits to Fabledex score. In the mid-game, I would recommend carrying 2 standard versions of each fable: the one with the best Genetic Score and the one with the best vibrancy. (If you have one with best GS/Vibrancy, carry just that one)

Finally, anytime I get a starter with a higher base vibrancy than others in my Fabledex, I augment those and release/combine the augmented fable with the lowest GS after the augments.

Genetic Score

I don't pretend to understand how this works, but mining damage appears to be positively correlated with Genetic Score. And stamina is crucial for Mining; Attack/Defense/Speed crucial for training. Assuming you

Starting with uncommon -> rare trades, you'll need a baseline Genetic Score to complete the trade. It's 75% for Uncommon -> Rare, which is a surprisingly hard mark to beat. Once you have a standard Fable which has 60%+ GS, you can mass-augment until you get one that has 75%+ GS for the trade. This is much more economical at the Topaz/Amethyst/Emerald level.

The Genetics Lab makes topping off fables with 65-75% GS possible. Each level up increases GS by 0.20%, so a GS of 73% will need 10x genetic lab level ups.

Trading

What I've found is that the cost/time to augment and level a fable is really low, so you should pretty much always make a trade, UNLESS you have a vibrancy over 90% for that Fable.

Here's my leveling strategy:
(1) I try not to hold more than one fable/augment combo at a time
(2) For starter fables, I never level them past 20
(3) For common fables, I never level them past 30
(4) For uncommon fables, I never level them past 40
(5) The exception to rules 2-4 above is for my highest Genetic Score standard fable. I expect to hold onto those for a while, so sometimes I level those much higher. For example, I have a 88.6% GS Rok that is level 80 right now. That thing does really well in mining/training

I generally accumulate trader tokens faster than I can use them, so don't be afraid to use those for refreshes/extensions. I refresh a lot more than I extend.

Mid-game, I recommend releasing any uncommon fables with a GS < 70%. You'll never be able to trade these unless you use the genetics lab to get them above 75% GS.

_____

Any thoughts on this? Some concepts I have not explored much are:
- When to Combine/Breed. I think this will be much more important for Rare trades and above when you need Vibrancy AND GS.
- The best use for Achievium. I haven't actually obtained any of these because I have not unlocked the last Ore

Great write up, some good info there. As for achievium, i'd go with mad scientist to decrease the costs of all upgrades, the last few levels are very expensive.

I got a 100% genetic strength before the time stones. It's just breeding from pokemon with different numbers, so luck based but after I'd say over 200 breedings I had it with my starter mon up to 100%. It starting at 75 across the board is pretty helpful for this and that was my first goal. Because I focused on the standard one I was able to more easily get perfect augments(still very luck dependent, look at how stats are passed through augments).
Notes:
*I haven't tested the impact of combining and how easy it is to get 100% of other species from it
**I think the fact that your leveling schema isn't dependent on augment type which may be flawed as higher tier augments generate more income by leveling faster on higher tier ores.

I've spend today exploring breeding, and it's outrageously overpowered in its current state. It seems like you can get a 90%+ GS & (a separate) 100% vibrancy within 100 breeds. So, 50k gold for starters, 100k for common, etc.

I imagine getting to 100% requires extremely good luck on breeding, so it seems like getting to 98-99% GS and then using the lab would be a good call.
