How much story is in this?

So I was liking the game in the beginning when there were other people and I enjoyed the quiet interactions, etc. Now I'm on the chapter after the parking garage and I'm concerned that I might be on my own for the rest of the game. Is there more story and character interactions to be had? Is the game rewarding in that way or is the rest of the game just about avoiding the creature in silence?

There isn't much, some near the campsite (approx midpoint) and a tiny bit near the end. There are flashbacks too but they also dry up in the back half. Generally you're going to be moving through the world alone.
